Does anyone remember when you were a kid growing up in Central Ohio and there was a telephone number you could call and get the time and temperature? If so, do you remember the number?

I can't recall the number, but there was some number that made weird noises that was gimmicked to be calling space or an alien hot-line. LOL

I don't know if that's the "old number" but it's in service now.

Topix doesn't allow standard form telephone numbers to be posted.

So, you can't see my post #3 with that number? It shows up here, but post #2 and #6 are not on mine.

OK Thanks, I forgot about that.
I can remember a 1980s phone number, but not how to post it on a forum...Am I getting old?

That's how they use cookies to fool trolls. Blocked posts appear on your computer but not seen by anybody else.

switch over to topics dot net and you'll see them disappear. that means they never posted.

I've wondered why I seen posts on laptop and not on my desktop before.

A year ago, trying to be funny, I responded to a post with the Tommy Tutone song, Jenny (not using the phone number mentioned in the song) and I got in "trouble" with the mods.

Separate thought: I used to call the weather/time number in high school when I woke up. I cannot tell you how many times I mistakenly called the boy that I had a crush on instead; his Mom very frustrated at who was calling and hanging up. Thank God caller ID was not invented at that time.

You wanted to give him the time of day, sounds like.
That reminds me of the pager days. I remember when friends used to leave my number for girls to call them back on, or vice-versa, and the girls sometimes called much later. It was a free for all when that happened.

My grandmother lived in Champaign County on a farm and she had a party line. My Father said she was a nib nose!

LOL
Zoe, I remember party lines and the operator would say, " Number Please " then you would say the number you wanted to call. They were at switchboards with wires that would connect the two parties.
Boy, we have come a long way from that!!!!
Sometimes there were three way party lines. Talk about a pain. Some people were so rude and wouldn't get off the phone, after talking for a long period, knowing there were others who needed to make calls.
We had candlestick phones...the receiver was on a hook. So cute.
The rings were so different back then.
