Donald Moore's pit bull attacked a 12-year-old boy in 2010. A boy who was nearly killed in a pit-bull attack on a Hilltop sidewalk last year smiled yesterday after the dog's owner was convicted in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

my neighbor just got a pit bull

i contacted their landlord,and told them that if that dog gets loose and bites somebody,they are liable as well as the owner.

the landlord told the pit bull owner to get rid of the dog or get out.

The Ohio General Assembly is considering legislation that would remove the "vicious" label from the pit bull breed.
SERIOUSLY???? What is wrong with our general assembly????? Why don't they just keep worrying about getting their rich friends richers and stay out of trying to ruin the Ohio education system and stay out of encouraging people to get pit bulls by removing the "vicious" label. What happened to "smaller government"?

Except owners are held legally responsible for their pit bulls? The only difference between a pit and any other vicious dog is that before a non-pit bull attacks they are viewed as "non-vicious". This is ridiculous notion. Hell our entire legal system is based off of "innocent until proven guilty."

And there have been pit bans in other countries and it DOESN'T HELP. When can you people start to critically think about situations? You get rid of pit bulls what about other bull breeds? You want to target one and think it will resolve the issue of shitty owners.

Clearly no one read this article and saw how this guy TRAINED his dogs to do this. If pit bulls are gone, dead beats will just move on to the next breed. Eventually your "elimination" solution will have them resorting to labs...which have also been known to kill but let's ignore that data.

A. That doesn't encourage people to get pit bulls. It's a long way before pit bulls are cleared of their reputation.

B. Technically, by keeping the ban, it let's their rich friends get richer. Especially if they are lawyers. This point is kind of moot.

This should help open peoples eyes to how frequently dogs are misidentified as pit bulls leading to inaccurate data.

As the owner of pit bull type dogs...I fully agree with Angela Fuller. Moore should receive the maximum sentencing! It's time for people like him to be recognized as the problem and punished for the reckless behavior that causes injuries.

All the useful purpose to these types of animals is all but out dated as most of us don't use them for hunting or hearding or whatever... they are just pets. Terriors in general are hard headed, determined and motivated, all the way down to a rat terrior.

I find it ironic that you think you are an animal lover. You asked what purpose does pit bulls serve? It may not serve a purpose to you but they serve plenty of purposes to others. Just because a living being does not serve a purpose to you does not mean the entire breed should be eliminated. Do you really think like this? Scary!!!! Thank God that someone in this state government is finally willing to address the real issue here. They finally realized that BSL does not work and now making laws that will make people responsible for their dogs instead of just blaming the dogs.
BSL is a law initially intended for a quick and simple fix for dog bites but it does not work. The reason is simple because it targets the dogs but not the irresponsible owners.

You asked about "What happened to smaller government?" Really? The current law is exactly the opposite of a "smaller government". It is telling people what kind of dogs they can own base on appearances instead of behaviors. Next time the government will dictate what kind of car you will drive, where you should live, and what jobs you can have, etc .
