Long time since seeing you post. Hope all is well.
Aww, thanks Spookie! Things be good here, just working a lot and March Madness. Was out with friends from Dayton last weekend watching the games and having a blast. This place has become boring, nothing more than crap flinging like a bunch of monkeys. That gets old, real fast.

Hope all is well with you. How's the skunk? I had a pair of mallards getting romantic in front of my door earlier this week. Spring has to be here, right?

The skunk has been real happy. Must be getting lots of action.

For me it is Go North Dakota. Forever the Fighting Sioux, no matter what those sphincter lickers at the NCAA say. I was at Cincinnati Midwest regional last Friday and Saturday. The players uniforms had no mascot symbol or logo. The Fans on the other hand had older jeraeys with the indian head and many had added on the back "forever fighting Sioux" . About 20 or so were clearly at least part indian and wore those jerseys and hats that said Sioux nation loves our Hockey team.

Several police stations are the same way. Weapons are checked and not carried everywhere.
Clinton vs. actual life soldiers.

I'll go with what soldiers in my family and friends tell me. I lived down the street from bases for years.

What actually happens on the base is a different story. Case in point...ANOTHER FT. HOOD SHOOTING.

"Lopez was being evaluated for post-traumatic stress disorder, but had not yet been diagnosed for the illness."

"Lopez, who was on medication, served four months in Iraq in 2011 and had "self-diagnosed" a traumatic brain injury. "He was not wounded in action, to our records," Milley said."

Too much speculation going on, and since medical records are not public records...it's all speculation. For all we know, he could have been flipping out just because his wife was cheating on him.
They are saying he had some argument with another soldier before the shooting...

no longer true.

arms are locked up after drills.

MP's have sidearms; but like all law enforcement they can't be everywhere.

Ft. Hood is 375 square miles of real estate.

You're full of shit. The only people carrying issued weapons on that base are (some of) the MPs.

How did the shooter get a gun then, Copernicus?

The shooter had guns. You think he checked them out from the army gun store ?

The fact that you get your clothes at Salvation Army thrift stores doesn't make you knowledgeable about the US Army. If you'd limit your posts to topics that you know something about, you wouldn't post anything at all.

That had to be great to see those fans.

NCAA did something similar to Wright State years ago. They're the Raiders and they had a mascot of a Viking Raider. Well someone whined that it was sexist. So they changed their mascot and logo to a lame looking wolf. Ugh. I liked Rowdy the Viking Raider.

Explains how he got the gun, not how he got it past security to get it ON the base.
All bases require positive ID, and do inspect for weapons. DoD policy as I know it. Whether folks realize it or not, many vehicles are also x-rayed as they enter military or federal premises and delivery vehicles (FedEx, food deliveries, etc.) should be routinely inspected. Drivers must be screened before they are allowed on the property. The only way I can think that this guy got his weapon on base was that security was lax OR they didn't suspect anything. Employees are NOT allowed to bring personal weapons on premises. Pretty easy for him to have hid a .45.
I work on DoD premises. I know the routine. This guy may have slid under the radar since he would have been trusted and had the creds to get through the gate.
You are a traitor to the United States of America for posting restricted information about security procedures at base entry control points.

And you're an idiot. There are millions of private contractors working on military bases worldwide. They all go through the security clearance and the security procedures they follow are not restricted information. Several posters on this forum have security clearances and so does my husband.

James is correct. It is careless to discuss base entry security procedures such as vehicles being x-rayed because doing so could enhance an enemy's ability to employ countermeasures and exploit any weaknesses. If you work with the government as you claim, you should be familiar with the terms "OPSEC" and "need to know".
