My prayers and condolences to Sheriff Karnes' family. He started @ the sheriff's office with my father, Lt.Ted Gallagan, back in 1962. My father passed away in 1982.

I remember attending an event a few years ago that Sheriff Karnes and his wife were also attending with their grandson in tow. What a wonderful thing it was to see that huge wall of a man be so tender with his grandson. Aside from all his other accomplishments, it seems he was a wonderful grandpa too! Keeping the Karnes family in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry to hear about Sherriff Karnes. He was a great man and did a wonderful job at the sheriffs department. As a former guest of the Franklin County Sheriffs department, I think he was a fair and just man who loved what he did for Columbus Ohio.

Sheriff Karnes! I remember the back to the first time I met you it was a Bible Baptist Church in Grove City you and your wife attended. I was introduced to you by Ginny Mitchell from Grove City. Sheriff Karnes! You were a great christian man and will be greatly missed.
I can imagine your memorial will be at Grove City Nazarene.

Our thoughts and prayers for his family. Hopefully his ethics and management culture will continue to provide the residents of Franklin County with the same quality of service.

I am so sorry for the loss of this incredible man, i am a black grandmother who has lived in this city of columbus, for over 40 yrs, saw a lot changes in this city, but one of the best was when Sheriff Karnes was voted in to take over his office from one of the worst bigoted sheriffs in the city at that time earl smith,

To his family, best wishes and remember he seemed like a very good.decent man.

The area has lost a good person, a man that worked his whole life protecting people from harm, and even did such while sick with cancer and your making a joke out of it. Disgusting.

Although Sheriff Karnes carried the title of Democrat, there was no party in his eyes. He served all citizens without any politcal agenda. As a Republican, he is one of the men I respected the most...even over the members of my own party.

Sheriff Karnes was possibly the best elected official in county history. I hope that the leaders of both parties attempt to copy that. He is what bipartisanship really means.

Thank you Jim and God Bless.

End of Watch For One Of The Finest Men In Law Enforcement. He will live forever in the hearts and minds of those who served with him and knew him for his honesty and integrity. To serve with him was a true honor. To know him a true blessing.
