"Texas had some of the most lax campaign finance laws anywhere. At the state level, there are no limits on the amount of money individuals can contribute to candidates, allowing wealthy donors to directly bankroll campaigns. In such an environment, Rick Perry didnít just survive, he flourished. He didnít just embrace the system, he shattered records with it, raising more than anyone in Texas history. Indeed, for as long as Perry has been governor, the governorís mansion has been ostensibly for sale."

Rick Perry's polluter cronies; also, in 2001, Perry also bought a house for $300,000 which was one-third the market value and sold it for $1.3 MILLION 6 years later! Wow, he's a smart investor:

Yawn.
Hillary made a fortune from nothing in Whitewater and from cattle futures that were undervalued.
Obama raise over $1 billion in 2008.
Are you really that worried about Perry?

Perry is leading Romney by 12% in newest Gallup poll. I've really had enough of Texas governors and just about anyone (Charlie Cook said a "placebo" could beat Obama) could beat Obama. So, I am worried when I see Perry leading 29%-17% over Romney and the smartest guy in the room polls at 1%.

Can't stand the guy but to be fair, Obama's bundlers did well early on in the 2008 election - not to mention the addition of those prepaid credit cards!

Obama is going to raise a BILLION dollars for his campaign in 2012. Democrats out spent Republicans in the 2008 congressional campaign at a 3 to 1 clip. Who is the party of the rich again? Doesn't matter, money doesn't buy elections and 2010 was a good example of that. At least Obama will pump a billion dollars into our economy before he leaves Office in 2013.

Don't they realize taht Rick Perry is a closeted gay? Something is going to come out about this before this is all over.

Either that or they'll be another "Hot Military Stud" showing up at White House press conferences.

Did you read the article regarding the seemingly blatant quid pro quo under Perry with some contributors and observers commenting on getting business fromTexas especially the one guy that got $2 BILLION in business from Perry?

Put them all in jail!

Why worry? The election is a long way off and why not allow the media to do their function and vet Perry. There is so much to bury him that all it will do is take time. Perry is not a Placebo-he is a Belch-loud and obnoxious but in the end harmless.

That is what Charlie Cook was saying that unfortunately for the Republicans, one of their candidates actually has to run.

He thinks the party will split between two factions - Perry/Bachmann & Romney.

Do you actually believe anyone pays attention to what the 'media' tells us? They will vet everyone but Obama himself. They then put lipstick on the pig (Obama) and say 'it could be worse' as a campaign slogan because everyone laughs now when you say 'hope and change, and we can do it". How many viewers does MSNBC have? 6? 7? That is what is most frustrating to you Liberals, nobody listens to you and you don't corner the market on the media anymore since the internet and cable news. That's why so many of you are so busy trying to sensor everyone by spouting out how 'radical' or 'stupid' they are because they don't agree with you. All of you were saying the same thing before the 2010 election and got your arse handed to you. Not much has changed since then.

Too bad the media never vetted Obama.

You think that anyone from Fox would say that Obama is going to be hard to beat or that there was any chance that the GOP will not regain the White House?

At this same time in the last election Cook said that Obama could not win and that Clinton was going to be the canidate to beat and she would be defeated soundly. I remember reading him and thinking, "This guy is just not seeing the game being played"

Cartoon I saw a couple of years ago.

'For sale to highest bidder' sign in the yard.
Guy says, I didn't know you were selling your house.
Politician says, I'm not selling my house, that is my campaign slogan.

You have a point. Republicans are already looking to see who comes over the horizon next. Perry was the antidote to Bachman. Now we need an antidote to Perry. Still lots more fun to come, folks.

Meanwhile, nobody wants to take Ron Paul seriously.

By "vetted" I take it you mean chasing down endless birther rabbit holes about how his mother gave birth in Kenya, flew her infant to Hawaii, obtained a forged birth certificate and registered it with the state and then got birth announcements published in the newspapers--all so her baby could one day be President?

This is the problem with people that just watch Fox News- you have no clue what all is being said and therefore you do not have a true grip on reality.

The GOP swept the elections on jobs and the economy. They have done nothing about either. Instead they have concentrated on union busting, eliminating ssi and medicare/medicaid and of course sticking it to Obama at every chance they can. They have downgraded our credit rating and suffered a huge backlash in public opinion. The other thing they did was remind all the voters that sat home in 2010 that this is what happens when you just vote once every 4 years.

Kasich and Walker have happened since then. Not to mention Bachman and the debt ceiling debacle.

Somehow there are folks in Washington who took the 2010 elections as a mandate to dismantle the government nad throw the country over a cliff. They have forgotten it was all about jobs.

No...how about his lack of real employment experience, his grades at Occidental, Columbia and Harvard, interviews with friends and acquaintances from the era before he landed in Chicago, real reporting on the vile church he attended for years, in-depth reviews of his books (which contain racist passages and tales of drug use,) his association with Ayers and Rezko?
Little things like that.
