Oh I'm sure my kids think I'm a horse's arse at times. I've asked the kid if she'll like the skyline tattoo when she's 80 and saggy. She looked at me like I was from another planet. I.do.not.care. The buggers are still alive. That's all that matters!
A few years ago, a friend of ours came by to show us her "something". We knew her through a dog (Husky) breeders organization. She proceeded to whip down her jeans (and undies) to show us a tattoo of her dog in a very intimate place. It didn't faze mrs. rowdy, but I had no place to run. Nice, but I'm still not a fan of tattoos.

Come on, Bob. We're talking about 'government gone wild intrusion', why go off in that direction? That used to piss you off when we had a good conversation going.
Me? No tattoes now or ever unless I get 'D N R' in 5 inch letters across my chest. BUT, no way there should be government instituted oversight on the practice.
Thanks, SL. I agree. This is government gone too far. Some bans I agree with...like smoking in cars with children. But getting a tattoo only affects one person and that person is the one who has to live with the consequences - good or bad. I have one tattoo that I got in Maui. I researched and researched before I chose a place and it was a well-thought out adventure. No regrets and it's in a place where not many people can see it. I'm not one to begrudge people for having multiple tattoos, but I do think it causes superficial judgment.

I agree with you, up to a point. I just always think of one thing when I see a face tattoo. Who would hire them? The ones I’ve seen have all been on people who do not work, unless “former or future inmate” is considered an occupation.
The majority of people I've seen with face tattoos work in industries that kind of cater to the eccentric, which being in Columbus, there is a lot of opportunities for those kinds of jobs. Brewing, food industry, artists, etc. Not run-of-the-mill type places, but these people are smart and have just chosen a different path. I come from a time that most places where I have worked wouldn't hire you if you had ANY visible tattoos, including on arms, wrists, hands, ankles, etc. That's changed so much now because tattoos are becoming more acceptable.

I don't judge anyone...people do what they want.
It's fun to do something on the wild side every now and again. Having a tattoo doesn't make you any different of a person than who you were before. Now the people who stretch their earlobes out and get jewelry embedded in their faces...I find that very strange, but perhaps one day that will be the norm as well. I hope not.

I walked right by the tattoo shops in Lahaina and hit up the t-shirt shops. I still have a "Red Dirt" t that I'll never throw away.

Yes it is strange. Not my cup of tea, though.
Seems like each generation makes a mark of distinction.

Would you tattoo this man if he walked into your shop?

Ah...I think each generation *thinks* its making its own mark, but there isn't a whole lot that is truly unique or new. Even with the whole stretching of the earlobes. Probably the majority of kids who have it done aren't aware that its been done for centuries by other cultures. Who knows. When I was a teenager and young adult I took the less permanent form of rebellion in the type of clothes I wore. Grunge and vintage dresses were all the rave.

No, but I think that's exactly why there shouldn't be a ban but the decision should be up to the tattoo artist. Most of them will not tattoo someone who is inebriated and will make you sign a waiver beforehand stating you are not intoxicated. This guy clearly is. Anyone who would tattoo him is not a respectable artist.
