You love playing victim, don't you?
You know a lot about the culture of victimhood

But the WCM always has to be the oppressor.

I don't know much about the Michigan case, so I won't specifically comment towards it.
HOWEVER, I don't think the ADA has any business in any religious organization, PERIOD. Further, if you read the comments on the change.org petition for this teacher, nearly all alluded to how other than her homosexuality, her spiritual nature indicated she followed the church and that she was a good teacher. That's very possible that she was an excellent health and gym instructor. It's also very possible that she is a kind person. But, her personal decisions were very much against the teachings of the church and she made those decisions very, very public in an obituary published in a large metro newspaper.
She signed on the dotted line. She knew what she was getting into. Breach of contract.
Your religious views, in this context, are irrelevant. Your religion/faith is not that of the Catholic Church. IMHO those are the only relevant religious views to be had in this situation.
From what I saw the morals clause did not specify the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Reader, you can't run for your years of history here, so just give it up. And what a spectacular display of projection when you accuse others of playing the victim.

I don't recall George demanding that a Muslim institution not discriminate, or that Muslims should not be allowed to live under Sharia if it is not applied to others.
And yet he want's Catholic morals "applied to others".

Tony, you're letting your emotions get in the way. That is hyperbole taken to the extreme.

Interested in your statement regarding the AFA. This is where I have a religious opinion. I hold that Christians have a rather clear moral responsibility not to discriminate based on disability. I think that hiding behind separation to deny such consideration is shameful

What's next, is the birth control mandate constitutional?

It is an RCC school, and the contract specified they could fire based on this.

The Columbus law could be and probably is unconstitutional because it doesn't recognize the religious and conscience exemption.

Slander is seen to only apply to private citizens.

<quoted text>I just gave you an example of an Islamic school and my agreement with it.

That Islamic school wouldn't be breaking the law if it contractually fired someone for alcohol consumption. That's the difference. "Render unto Caesar..."

[QUOTE]Attacking the Catholic Church is frowned upon by its faithful when its a matter of our teachings and beliefs.
I understand that (disapproval), and I fully support the right to express such disapproval, but those teachings and beliefs cannot be imposed on others contrary to man's law.
Beulah signed a contract. IMO, she did so in bad faith.
Could be. And that might even be grounds for voiding the contract (not for "being" a lesbian, but for "lying" about it). I'm not sure.

Not emotional at all. Just interpreting the letter of the law as I see it. Your religion confuses me, however. I can't for the life of me find where God commanded you to impose your teachings and beliefs onto others, or, if it does, why other religions don;t have the right to do the same thing.

I can provide another extreme example. It was man's law in the USSR that in WWII all deserters should be shot on sight. Was it right for religious beliefs to override that?

There was no imposition of beliefs. That only happens if the threat of temporal violence is used to coerce one into acting. This was termination for breach of conduct.

Not specifically Catholic. Applies to any religion.
