I'm not.
Me neither apparently.

It's a question of "Is Paul a credible witness or not?"

I would argue, yes, the opposing position argues against that.

Demonstrable harm is not chaos, it is reason. You're free to practice your particular brand of order with anyone who wants to share it with you.
The reality is that harm is for me a hard principle to stand on because it doesn't consider impacts to the wider society.

For instance, you are a libertarian and therefore a supporter of largely unrestricted immigration. Now on the surface, that doesn't cause a demonstrable harm, as if the individual fails and becomes unemployed it's his own damn fault. But I recognize that this harms the unity in society and sets it against itself, ultimately leading to violence.

But I can't prove the harm based on anything but the historical record.

There we find an agreement, and furthering my point that society is soon to rend itself asunder.

Just what the hell was the point you were trying to make?

But the disintegration of society is what you seem to advocate for. I would think you'd welcome the expedited process.

I've generally commented that I don't want societal disintegration, but see it as inevitable, and the only way upon which a better society can be built.

I considered voting straight D to expedite.

Yuck. Duke's quite picky. If I try to sneak cheap food in his bowl, he won't eat it, and then he starts going on excursions in the neighborhood looking for better vittles when I let him outside. He's very smart, and he always comes home afterwards.

As I was waiting for Duke to defecate in the backyard this morning, a bright red cardinal flew down and landed on the picnic table next to me, sitting and chirping for a bit. I began thinking about our discourse on these boards over the past few days, wondering to myself, "Maybe Tippyhead is right. Maybe that nutty Tippy headed fundamentalist Bible thumper really is on to something, and I am not seeing things clearly."
As I thought long and hard about this while in what I could only describe as what must have been a divinely inspired trance, suddenly, a bright beam of sunlight burst through a break in the clouds, shining directly down onto the shimmering red cardinal.
It was then I heard it. Clearly. I could not believe it, but I heard it just the same. Emanating from the bird's beak, distinctly, five separate times: "Bullshitt. Bullshitt. Bullshitt. Bullshitt. Bullshitt."
Then, just as quickly as he had arrived, the divine messenger alit into the beam of sunshine, the clouds returned, and Duke was done.

For Jefferson and some others, liberty was the main concern.
For Hamilton, and his side, it wasn't.
I see little point if the main point of liberty is allowing the order is society to be demolished by the people's stupidity.
In a sense, I've soured a lot on liberty in recent months, if I have to accept a society that hates me, what is the point in having said society?
Your chickens are coming home to roost, aren't they Karl?

That's one version of the story. The other is, he has a lady friend or two in the hood. Could be the cheap food is a cover story and some angry dog owner will figure it out and nail him for puppy support.

I don't see inevitable social disintegration. Change and social upheaval is cyclical, inevitable but total disintegration a la anarchy is a long, long way off, if ever.

My parents thought the same in the 60s and they voted straight Dem. Then my dad (UAW, union) got forced to strike several times when he thought it was downright stupid to. Began to see the light. My mom actually admitted to voting for Bush before she died. Man that was hell getting her to choke that one out.

Not gonna happen. He'll never have another Maury Povich moment.

Weather's getting warm though...Lake is thawed...he does like to go for swims across the road. And chasing cats for fun (he was raised around them and loves them) is high on his list as well.

I'm speaking of something like the Troubles and the Lebanese Civil War.

I don't think something like the Thirty Years War or Somalia is going to happen.
