What is your source that SHE (as opposed to another family member) had the obituary published?
It wouldn't have been done without her knowledge. Ever have a next of kin die? I have buried both my parents. You do not have an obit published until and unless the funeral director has had ALL family members (immediate survivors) approve it. And if the woman wrote the obit herself, it's all over.

When my mom died, my older sister handled all of the direct arrangements while I handled the relatives (picking up at airport, housing them, feeding them, etc.). Even then, my other sister and I were required to show up at the funeral home's office prior to mom's viewing and funeral and sign a few documents. One of them was to approve the obit to be published in the paper.

This stuff doesn't happen "in the dark," Tony. You're grasping at air here.

A provision of the contract, if it said that a teacher can be dismissed based on sexual orientation, is in violation of Columbus city code.

Which I'm betting would be found unconstitutional for not having a religious exemption

See George's response on this.

I happen to agree there's a problem also that there isn't a religious exemption.

The illegal act (firing) did not.
And the Columbus law is most likely unconstitutional for not having a religious exemption.
That's certainly a possibility. However, until it is challenged and found unconstitutional, it is enforceable.

Would an Islamic school fire a homosexual teacher?

I think so.

Suspend all belief for a moment here and picture this:
I teach math at an Islamic school. I sign a contract containing a code of conduct that includes no alcohol consumption. I do not consume alcohol in my community, but I do on vacation and I am tagged on a friend's Facebook page drinking on the Strip in Las Vegas. The school becomes aware of it and fires me.
Guess what...I rolled the dice and lost. The school didn't do anything wrong.

But alcohol consumption is a legal activity.
It all comes down to the contract. Don't sign it of you can't abide by it.

The State of California will shortly remove that, to the left, you only have "freedom of worship" anything else is subject to regulation by the state.

Substitute "alcohol consumer" with "homosexual" in that context, Tony. Then the point is crystal clear.

And I'm pretty sure that the contract preceding the law makes no difference, Provisions that would violate the law cannot be enforced.

Yet the new law can trump the First Amendment? I don't think so.
She signed the contract. She violated it. Sounds like a woman of low integrity.

It's very easy to understand why.

What does Coleman have to lose from offending this group?

Nothing, he doesn't need their votes.

What does Coleman have to lose for not asking for reinstatement?

Plenty, he's risking a major left wing client interest.

How much did the last RINO to run against Coleman get of the vote?

Below 30%.

At the same time, what happens if Franklin County's 50K Somali Muslims don't vote? They obviously won't vote GOP if offended.

Joyce Beatty has to actually campaign, and Kasich is easily re-elected.

Thus, why Muslims are not antagonized.

The state asserts a compelling interest in preventing discrimination, namely that allowing free association will embolden unpopular opinions that risk public order.
