Saturday night in KILL-umbus, Ohio is like being nowhere at all.
All through the day how the hours rush by, you sit on your porch and you watch the thugs die.

Can't wait for the weather to get HOT.

How can a shooting be at Spring and Miami when Spring ends at Hamilton Ave?

Just wondering.

Roger, My parents told me pretty much the same thing back in 1969. We really didn't know what they meant then, but we sure do know for sure now, don't we?

To begin to figure it out -- yes, we do need to! To begin to figure anything out, throwing blame around mindlessly (I'm referring to previous messages) is the best way to make everything worse. It does nothing to help anyone figure anything out. Back in 1969 the world was in bad shape too, people. I was 27 then. "A group of people has ruined this wonderful country." "A group of people"? Exactly what does that mean? Let's stick with the present and stop blaming scapegoats.

I know what they meant. Minorities are given a free pass in life. They can do no wrong until they kill.
I hate what this country has become.

I wonder if the statement made by the mother of the killer - "he never was in any trouble" - is true. It seems as if so many crimes in Columbus are committed by repeat offenders. The court system gives very light sentences for murder. They plea it down to voluntary manslaughter. Watch how this one ends up. The people of this city need to hold the prosecutors office and the judges accountable for the decisions they make.

I hear you Big Johnson and Mr. Chappelle, but to what end? We can speak of repeat violence and a certain culture or class in our community, but what exactly are you, me, WE, doing to educate that group out of it? We can say "thems crazy nizzas just love love love love killinz each other" but what good have you added to their community to help stop it minus your comments here? Taxes certainly aren't doing the job because our council members have their projects that don't address the culture they promised to serve. Time to wake them up - city counsel and the community. Want ADP, WIC, housing? I recommend putting down the one hitter or the pipe and find some type of employment, stop selling your food subsidy cards so you can buy your Popov or Kamchatka vodka. Baby Steps. Study the 1964 civil rights act and the The National Voting Rights Act of 1965 and you will see that the rest of America accepted you completely and moved on, while your community seems stuck in the 60s - get unstuck! We love you! Freedom is here - grab it, please?

No one Specail, just to inform you, there a narrow steet that runs east to west, that's springs steet. Most people don't use it because it dead ends into the King Center and only the people that lives in the area use. Way back it the day Spring St. went straight through until they builded Garfeild School, which is now the King Center.

As a teacher in Columbus City Schools, I see hundreds of kids who want to be the change. Unfortunately, their educational process is being hindered by the 20-50 in each high school that do not want to be there and who are only there to deal drugs and cause problems. If Columbus City Schools would follow through with a discipline school for the 10% of our students who are problems, the other 90% would succeed. We could also use larger more popular vocational programs for our students.

Thank you for the detail, Living Knowledge - that is good history about the location. I wish we could tap your knowledge and the knowledge of others to write a ground level history of Columbus. So many of us that have lived here all our lives know so very little about where we started and where we are now. Thank you - I learned something new today. Peace to you on Easter Sunday.

It starts again over the freeway, you probably just don't cross that bridge.
