Not you dying.
Your family dying.
The question kind of stunned me.
If the situation has become so dire that the choice comes to this...
damn me
NO!
Probably half the people living in the Ottoman Empire who are now Muslim are descendants of people who had to make this decision. In some cases conversion was by force, in other cases conversion took place because it was a way to move up in the power structure. Turkey encompasses what used to be Anatolia, which is the heart of what was Greek/Byzantine/Roman culture at least through medieval times. There are very few Christians in Turkey right now, but those people are the descendants of the Greeks that have always populated those lands.

If you take politics out of the equation, religion is mostly a function of geography and when in Rome most people do as the Romans do, no pun intended. In fact, I have some distant relatives who live in Istanbul. Everybody seems to have lost track of them, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had Muslim cousins running around over there.

You see the same thing happened in reverse with Rita Wilson's (Mrs. Tom Hanks') father. He was born a Muslim, but converted to Christianity because his wife was Greek.(he was actually a Pomak, which is a Thracian/Bulgarian who converted to Islam. His surname was Ibrahimoff (Abraham), I believe.) Lots of Jews also converted to Christianity.

Bottom line is that there is only one God. God's not going to judge you for doing what you have to do to protect your family.

I was reading something recently about Alexander the Great so called ruler of the world. Yes he ruled a big chunk of territory, but for what 50 years or less?

I was reading about the corrupt and incompetent rulers that came before him and his father. I read something about how the Kings castle is where the government archives were also located. Also, the monarch was the keeper of the state religion and religious archives which had to be some form of paganism then. It's amazing to me how long-lived that custom was, as it was a custom that was carried through to most of the monarchs of Europe who are/were heads of both their nations and their National Church.

Christianity became the national religion of the Roman Empire by actions set in motion by Emperor Constantine. That is the main reason why most of Europe became Christian.

One of the main reasons I believe that the Bolsheviks were officially atheist, was because most of them came from a Jewish (or part Jewish) background, and if you're going to topple a government you're also going to have to topple the state religion and replace it with a new one in order to stay in power. The state religion of Christianity was therefore replaced with the Marxists' new religion of atheism and secularism. Christianity was driven underground because it was a threat to their power, both because it represented the previous regime and because what Christianity teaches is an anathema to what big government has to offer.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same dynamics weren't in play when the Muslims took over formerly Christian territories. they had to kill Christianity not because they were religious nuts, but because they didn't want to leave a powerful arm of the former government in place.

The Bolsheviks only had 83 years, so people like Vladimir Putin had to be baptized in secret and they weren't able to completely wipe out peoples' memories. Now you have the amusing spectacle of Jews like Dimitri Medvedev converting to Orthodox Christianity in order to move up the political power structure in a country not only rediscovering its Christianity, but with an axe to grind against the people who did so much damage to their beloved church.

If they had 500 years or more, like the Ottoman Empire had, you would see the same thing you see in Turkey which is essentially populated today with Muslim Greek descendants. Don't get me wrong, the invaders in Anatolia were Turkic people. But the core of the population remained and assimilated.

(Disclaimer: These are my own conclusions which may or may not be supported by fact. These are just educated guesses based on observation and my knowledge of how the world works.)

I don't think Medvedev has Jewish ancestry. That seems to be just a rumor.

I've seen conflicting views on the Orthodox in Russia, one view sees them as the corrupt tools of Putin, the other as a national revival that will clean up Russia.

Since I don't know any Russians or Russian, unlike a certain US Senator, I don't know which view is accurate.

Pay attention and I will reiterate: Nazi Germany did not kill Jews for their religious beliefs.
Millions of Jews would have renounced their religion if it would have kept them out of the camps.
That is correct as evidenced by the many cases of Jews who became Catholics. The fact that they were converts was hidden from the Nazis, because they would have been marked for extinction based on their ancestry. The stereotypes about Jews have more than a kernel of truth to them, and most Europeans aren't fond of them.

...vNot to mention that the same idiots who fight to topple Christianity here were succeeding in toppling Christian States in Europe and were a very serious threats to the then still Christian nations.

he says that, but he sure looks looks it. not to mention that Medvedev is a Jewish surname like Michael Medved ... Jewish names are different than Slavic names. He's claiming to be Armenian now, but that doesn't seem to be playing any better with the Russian people. Armenians aren't that much different than the Jews, at least that's their reputation.

Michael Medved is a Jew, and his brother was an Israeli soldier. His brother lives in Israel and Michael visits him often. Dennis Miller is also Jewish.

You would fling your rosary as far as you could and bury every Catholic statue in your house if the Islamist gained control, and went house to house forcing each house member to take the Kalima Shahada, or lose their head.

Its similar to the great respect Italians show for the Catholic Church. Whether they are observant or not, the institution is respected. Don't get me wrong, people can be cynical about the institution and politics involved not to mention who's grifting money, but at the end of the day it does represent God in the institution is held in high esteem.

The untold story is that while communist countries were officially atheist, they didn't completely succeed in suppressing religion. People may have been publicly atheist in order to protect their government jobs, but Church values were still propagated within the home. I think you will find that observant Christian Russians are very conservative people. Hence, put not having any problem calling a spade a spade with regard to gays adopting children.

Like I said before, in this country religious themes used to be out in the open, but people used to receive Playboy magazines in brown paper wrappers and pornography was only available behind the counter. Now it's pornography that's widely disseminated, but thanks to the libs its religion and God that has to be hidden from public view and dare not be uttered in public.

It's a pretty pathetic state of affairs when you think about it. I think if more people were aware of the connection between atheism, secularism, and its Jewish roots, commonly held opinions these days would change like they have in Russia.

Muslims will not eat hogs, yet hungery sows will eat a muzzie. Nothing like hearing a muzzie scream as a big sow tears a hole in side and chops the ribs like she is chewing frozen slop.

Then you don't know any corporate settings with government contracts or agency oversight (FDA, DEA, DOT...)
I've been tested as little as the annual test in one year to four or five times at random in another year. I've seen others called down ten times in a year.
Everyone right to the top submits to these tests which also look for alcohol. And that's what gets most people busted...coming in and having to test at 8:00 AM.

fyi.......most corporate insurance policies will supply liability premium discounts if a no tolerance random drug screen process implemented. Sizable discount.

CEO's, Presidents, VP's pee in the cup as fanfare for the other employees.

if a CEO pees a bad screen, then they will be fired.

Now...I bet the CEO most likely has an appointment to pee in the cup, say 60 days in advance.

none the less....no tolerance means everybody. The stockholders (owners) demanded the discount.

above is 100% reality.

Yep. And at my place, if you're not downstairs in the EHS office 15 minutes after your boss gets the call and tells you to go, security will be up to get you.
