TLDR
Do not know where you get your facts; "Conspiracy Theories R Us"? The rehabilitation percentage is NOT very high at ALL with sex offenders--it may be above your fourth grade level of reading but the APA and the DSM-V states otherwise. Granted THIS house is already in a low rent area but have a good friend up in Lakewood, OH where a landlord has had as many as eight sex-offenders living there in a 4-plex with yes, girlfriends and children--a once Historical Neighborhood has had it's property values go down BEFORE the 2008 economic housing bubble popped! The same generally goes with Section Eight Housing--brings property values down and attracts crime like a turd magnet! You seem so defensive that it's easy to assume YOU indeed are a sex-offender. There's NO SUCH THING AS AN "EX-SEX-OFFENDER", and yes, they SHOULD be BRANDED FOR LIFE, not to mention CASTRATED physically AND chemically!

Are you really this stupid?? You should have kept your mouth shut, then I would have only THOUGHT you to be a fool...

Look at the studies cited...a little research on the web like Nope suggests will reveal the ALL studies ever produced say sex re-offense is rare AND that rehabilitation is extremely successful.

Goodness...you say sex offenders are living with families in Lakewood!!! Can't you see how you support Nope's position???

It has always been the case that those who hate others, really hate what they see in themselves. I do not think Nope is a sex offender, because his post just speaks of facts (if you were willing to double-check his sources you would find this out), but I think you hate sex offenders because you are one too, though you may not have the "official" paperwork for the public to see (meaning you never got caught).

This subject is never about supporting or hating sex offenders. It is about how facts are ignored, and emotion and myth are elevated to support decision making. What a sad person you are...Have fun in church as you swear to God that you "love your neighbor"!

I am a little surprised so many people replied that they would be okay with sex offenders living around them. The offenders are Not Normal, they are perverts and it appears you find them perfectly okay. Which I find bizarre.

Heck, good thing this law wasn't in effect when most of US were teenagers. Most young people between 18-20 would have been branded as sex offenders if they had sex with someone who was underage.

Ohio was the first state to implement the sex offender registry. Now, we hear complaints about how much time and effort it takes to keep tabs on S O's. One poster said let them live under a bridge. That's what many are doing because they have been banished from living anywhere else. I've heard some give addresses such as, "bridge under Main St and First Ave." Some live in the woods. We're told how dangerous they are, yet in some cases, they have no verifiable address so check. That seems backwards.

States face a 10% cut in federal justice assistance funding if they do not comply with the regirstry.

From CNN: To see how the law has fared in practice, one need look no farther than Ohio, the first state to adopt the law in its original, most stringent form, in 2007.

Ohio's version of the Adam Walsh Act, SB 10, has resulted in more than 7,000 legal claims, according to the state public defender's office. It also has led to years of litigation, two state Supreme Court rulings and separate registry criteria for sex offenders whose crimes occurred before and after the law's enactment.

There are now over a hundred different things that get one "listed." Anything from urinating in public to a serial rapist. Currently, there is no way to know what type of charge a person has without doing some digging. The way the registry currently works, everyone is pretty much lumped together. The tiers really mean nothing. I've heard of a lot of tier 3's are simply a 19 year old "being" with their 15 year old girl/boy friend. Most of these people are no threat, but with the saturated state of the registry, we have no idea who the "really bad" people are. In a related matter, parents should trust no one around their kids, whether registered or not. This is a dangerous world, kids should be watched at all times. We shouldn't just assume, "there is no one registered around here, so it's safe."
Yes, and in some states, streaking and mooning can also result in getting a sex offender label. And who typically does that? Young kids in college. So you have kids doing something stupid when they're young and carrying this label with them for the rest of their lives and probably being denied employment and housing in the process. We're not talking about people preying on little kids. We're talking about people doing dumb things, like you said, urinating in public being placed on the list. People who have child porn in their possession may be a labeled a level 2 offender whereas someone who raped an adult is a level 3 offender. It's all wacky.

they should all be castrated... anyone who can do any form of research knows the tiers are simple to distinguish between and the tier 1 has a 90% recidivism rate. Tier 1 is the one housing all the rapests/child molestors and people that should be punished beyond belief.

I feel that pedophiles, such as child molesters just need to be took to a field and shot in the head. Man or woman, as long as they have touched a child in any form, they need to be shot, electrocuted. There is no help for these freaks. They do not deserve to be housed, fed, or cared for. Blow their dam heads off. Save the future victems, their families an past victems.

Too bad you continue to ignor the facts. Too bad you like to blind yourself to the truth. Too bad you have accepted what others have told you without critically thinking for yourself. Too bad you are a sad person. Too many accept whatever they hear, and if the lie is big enough, and told over and over again, they will believe it. You are not a US citizen, but one who would support any dictatorship as long as they "tickled" your ear. How sad...
what facts? Linda is right. What are you, a pervert lover? Go on a deserted island with the pedophiles. Maby YOU are a pedophile that's why you are all for keeping the freaks around.

You have to admit they need some housing, and it's better to know where they live so that the authorities can find them than to have them wandering the streets anonymously.
They should be creating some kind of group housing complexes, YMCA style, away from residential neighborhoods, and with some sort of security monitoring and curfews.
they need a island to themselves. No body wants a predator living near them.

No one asks that Catholic churches be moved to the dessert despite an overwhelming amount of pedophiles in the diocese. ALL SEX OFFENDERS ARE NOT PEDOPHILES. It is unconstitutional to continue to punish those who have paid their debt to society. Lets grow up here, quit inducing panic, if you dont know get informed. Housing is humane and ignorance is dangerous.

too late, they probably already are but most go unconvicted. Supervise your children and dont let strangers in your house or let them take showers with the coach. Having a neighbor who has already been
punished. Let's be adults about this, ignorance is not bliss.
