People aren't jailed for accidents; therefore, evidently, it wasn't just an "accident".
By the way, with a name like "Coonrod" you just know a guy like this is going to live out in the sticks in a "single-story duplex" (read: double wide)

You are jailed for accidents when your irresponsible behavior caused the death of another person.

Here's a litle more to the story which might explain why the guy was arrested-from NBC4-note he just moved into this house after the one he was living in before had a fire:

Coonrod was arrested late Sunday because authorities said he was intoxicated and unfit to care for children when fire crews arrived on the scene of the fire, according to the Greenfield police chief.
“I ran around back, and the father was standing out back in his underwear,“ he said.“I asked him where the kids was, and he told me he didn’t know. So I kicked the door in and tried to go in. The smoke was too bad,“ Jenkins said.

Another eyewitness called Wesley’s demeanor shocking.

“He did not care because he was drinking …“ the eyewitness said.

Wesley, 43, apparently moved into the home two days ago after a separate fire damaged his home in February.

Wesley has a prior arrest record according to authorities, including domestic violence, aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and numerous criminal damaging and OVI and DUI arrests.

Who allowed this pig to have those two boys anyways or is the mother just as bad? Another case of people who should never have had kids to begin with. They care more about their own desires than the welfare of their children. Drunk and he was able to stumble out of the house and not even know he left his babies in the house. He'll burn anyways! From the sounds of the parents, they are in a much safer place now. How very sad. I'm crying as I type this. Parents out there, hug your children and tell them you love them everyday!

This is such a sad story. The only good part is those sweet little children are in the arms of the angels now. Alcohol destroys so many innocent lives. It really makes me wonder why people cannot read stories such as this one and not realize the destruction alcohol brings. The guy's troubled past speaks volumes. He should never have been allowed to have these boy's in his custody. The mother must not have been any better.

Yet another member of the Coonrod family distinguishes himself. What we have here is a genetic deficiency of Darwinian proportions.

And WHERE is Children's Welfare? How do we allow a drunk pig to care for two children?? It wouldn't surprise me if the b.....d caused the fire. Second time? C'mon!

I hope you don't live in a glass house. The problem is Columbus Dispatch stories lack any real information. They briefly touch on the main details and leave us all hanging to make our own conclusions. Whatever happened, I'm sure Mr. Coonrod will battle his own demons the rest of his life. To lose a child is unthinkable, to lose two, >>>>????? I can't even imagine how horrible that would be to live through. Don't know if I would.

No, I don't live in a glass house...but I do live in a house, not a trailor.
Battle his own demons? Doesn't sound like he puts up much of a fight. The guy is obviously a dirt-ball hick who can't be responsible for children.

To you on here that are worried about mispellings and "poor dad", you're a bunch of idiots. He was drunk, period, NO POOR DAD crap and who cares if words are mispelled???? Two babies died here! If thats all you can comment on, go to another story like say, something that no one really cares about and complain about those mispellings.
