Yeah, imagine the opportunity they had to "indoctrinate" them into the world of reading, writing and doing math.
Look if all you righties of means want to hole up in the suburbs and forsake all responsibility for the public educations systems you leave behind, you can hardly complain when someone steps in to offer assistance.
And btw, I don't guess that Hilliard Public Schools are quite a pantheon of rightist thinking. It's my observation that righties of means tend to want a whole lot of lefty-type things for their own kids. Superb education, critical thinking. Athletics, music and the arts. Even a hat-tip to tolerance.
Having had the experience of attending a parent teacher conference and being lectured by my daughters teacher on the importance of voting for Bill Clinton, I can tell you that schools in LA are not soley in the business of teaching reading, ritin and rithmatic......

It was an awkward situation since I did not want to engage her for fear of prejudicing her against my daughter.

Well, that would have eliminated Bill Clinton, Gloria Steinem, Tyler Perry, Frank McCourt, Christina Aguilera, Oprah Winfrey, the entire Jackson family, Roseanne Barr...

All lefties. Imagine that...

I said that these are valid things to consider--no specific outcome recommended.

Again--this is a decision that belongs within the family with medical consultation.

It is a amazing that all you supposedly "pro-family" types reject that notion.

Was that teacher responsible for setting curriculum for the district?

But the original point was that the Shah of Whoever is not going to be able to buy his way into mandating the teaching of Islam as a part of American public education I don't care how big a donation he made to Harvard or wherever.

Does that argument of yours extend to families like the Inmans? That's a family which includes clergy...

Come on skimmer, your post that I responded to made no mention of islam....

That teacher was not the first or the last I had to bite my tongue
with as I kept a close watch on both of my children's progress in school.
"My" point in response to your 3 r comment remains, the school system in LA is predominantly liberal, teachers are from my experience teaching their opinions in the classroom and even a simple parent teacher night.

The teachers in the LA school system are not content to "teach" the 3 r's.

Political indoctrination is not aberrant it is the norm.......
It has no business in a "public" school.

The question that you folks seem to choke on is who decides. You want the state to decide (which has never worked well in the past). Pro-choice folks (who may or may not be politically progressive) want the pregnant person to decide in conjunction with a doctor and those friends/family members she determines to be helpful.
I cannot ask this enough and you still do not answer. How about making the decision before you get pregnant? Plenty of women do.

Have kids when you can afford them.
Leave an abusive partner. Why in the world would you get pregnant and bring another person into the world for them to abuse.

"Highways to the suburbs"

More leftist anti-white racism...

The right has been one of the strongest critics of leftist bias in the public ed system, recall my post linking to the Daily Caller article on the Texas system which praised Islam.

Also, your post displays a stunning amount of "white man's burden"

Saying that we "left our responsibility behind" is close to advocating actual imperialism.

Work your way up the thread. Some lurker was trying to prove "creeping Sharia" by claiming that some rich Saudi guy made huge gifts to Harvard and Georgetown on the condition that American public schools teach Islam.

I pointed out that neither Harvard nor Georgetown set curriculum in US public schools.

George threw in the Red Herring that Boston U for a time had operated some impoverished district in Massachussets. I pointed out that operating the district would still not override state standards nor the State nor US Constitutions.

Neither would your opinionated teacher.

But again--all quite beside the point.

Skimmer.

Further, in a district like the one George was citing--the primary NEEDs are the three Rs.

Because apparently not everyone is as perfect as you.

Especially not thirteen year old girls.

Especially not women in in abusive relationships.

Especially not people in the midst of active addictions.

Especially not people who think that they are in love with their life's soul mate.

Especially not people with impulse control issues (some of which are mental health related).

Especially people who have to make difficult health related decisions that ARE NOT strictly life and death after finding out that they are pregnant.

But, let me ask you a question. What do you have against women that you would deny them the right to face such decisions themselves?

I don't know what you are relating. I guess there was a post about those universities getting Gulf Arab money, I said that the Gulf Arabs are not as interested in our system as they are in the UK universites. Oxford has been a big recipient.

And why do you think women are so weak they can't say 'no' to sex?

Your list, all things that should be taught within the family and particularly by example, and knowing where and what your children are doing. Instill it at home, and they will be o.k. on thier own.
There will always be 'mistakes,' but adoption or raising the child yourself is a better option than abortion. There are no unpardonable sins.

Nice, saying I hate women. I have great women friends. I encourage them to make the decision themselves. Before they get pregnant. If they are pregnant, I would advise them against abortion. The emotional ramifications of abortion v adoption are going to be far more severe if they choose the former.

But the left always thinks it knows best for everyone. They are setting themselves above God.
Cuomo must be your role model.
