Why do schools start so early this year?

Really, beginning school in the middle of August when it is still possible to be 100 degrees? Last 100 degree day in Columbus is September 2nd, btw. The students should have the entire months of July and August off, the hottest months of the year. Who cares about June, it doesn't get "warm" until the end of the month and it is still possible to have frost in June.

My grandsons were off 11 days for bad weather.
I vote to go back after Labor Day...like it used to be.

Snow days was my first thought too. I'm glad the kids are kept off the streets on those rough days.
