Why come you're so slow to understand the facts?
You popped into the discussion to assign vulgarity to dead Union soldiers.
Your comment was neither necessary nor relevant.
But again, that's your standard M.O.
Oh. So it was because I used the phrase "fkn idiots" instead of idiots. Why didn't you just say that in the first place? It was certainly relevant in that it was in reply to Buzzy who said that the soldiers were spinning in their graves. I then followed that motif and offered a suggestion as to what those spinning corpses might be saying. Or is this another one of those situations were its ok for you guys to do it but not ok for me?

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, once again a perfectly good conversation in which someone might learn something gets ruined by people who do not want to argue facts, but want to butt in and go after their Topix enemies. Gawd, what miserable lives you must have.

Hey Yo Yo.
1)If you cannot understand that Unions are directly responsible for your working life being immensely safer and more comfortable than that of a typical employee of 100-150 years ago, you are one of those people who Mr. Santayana was referring to. Ignorant of history.
I picked your convenient inclusion of his quote from the other thread, applied it to this one because it is appropriate in context.
Now you're mad about it.
Whooopee.

That must explain why the vast majority of working Americans have remained non-union since the inception of unions.

As Mises said:

"No one has ever succeeded in the effort to demonstrate that unionism could improve the conditions and raise the standard of living of all those eager to earn wages."

You may deny it repeatedly, but you drew a direct analogy between the plight of coal miners and that of soldiers killed in the Civil War.

Because you're a Progressive.
And your truth is relative.

Which "people" are you referring to?

After BB posts an interesting historical reference about today's date, I point out the incontrovertible fact that people's lives are far safer at work now because of what the labor movement accomplished by organizing, and tipping the scales of a completely one sided bargaining scheme that exclusively favored robber barons, and Tippy acts like that's not true.

That seems to me to be a sign of someone with his or her head in the sand, who wishes to "ignore history".

Yes Tippy, I did draw an analogy...but not the one that you think I did.

I said people die every day, fighting good fights, with economic justice as the prize, whether its at war, or at work.

You seem to be quite an ungrateful sort, unwilling to acknowledge what a whole bunch of courageous "progressives" did for you decades ago, many giving their lives.

You remain impervious to facts, as Progressives are wont to do.
And I'll bet Reader is jumping at the chance to test the shocks on your '59 Studebaker.

Just what do you think was the impetus for the entire fields of Employment Law, Worker's Compensation regulations and Law, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and Law, Child Labor Law, Fair Labor Standards, FMLA?

Where did they all originate/derive from?

Robber Barons? The sky?

From Buddy Millers Cd ----Midnight and Lonesome
Quecreek by Julie Miller
At the Quecreek mine nine miners went down
Two hundred and forty feet deep in the ground
The night shift went a mile when there came a shout
Somebody's hit water everybody gotta get out
It was over their heads and too fast to outrun
Together they were tied to live or die as one
Help came from all round but the drill stripped and broke
So the men penned goodbyes and wives hoped against hope
When the waters come up
When you go thru the flood
In the Lord you can trust
He will be there with us
Now Jesus was laid in a hole in the ground
He was dead, but the third day God's hand brought him out
And the miners were buried three nights and three days
But like Jesus Sunday morning all nine men were raised
