Would explain why they want to shrink it, not to mention that it's in red states.(Canaveral-FL, Houston-TX I refuse to call it by its actual name, Redstone-AL)
Only NASA facility I can think of in a blue state is Vandenburg and JPL in CA.
Wallops Island and Langley in VA, Goddard Center in MD, Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ames and Dryden in CA, White Sands, NM.

If NASA wants to heavy launch from a true Blue State, they have only one real choice...Hawaii. CA can only support heavy launches for polar orbits.

Navy's New Laser Weapon Blasts Bad Guys From Air, Sea
No longer the fantasy weapon of tomorrow, the U.S. Navy is set to field a powerful laser that can protect its ships by blasting targets with high-intensity light beams.
Early next year the Navy will place a laser weapon aboard a ship in the Persian Gulf where it could be used to fend off approaching unmanned aerial vehicles or speedboats.
The Navy calls its futuristic weapon LAWS, which stands for the Laser Weapon System. What looks like a small telescope is actually a weapon that can track a moving target and fire a steady laser beam strong enough to burn a hole through steel.

A Navy video of testing conducted last summer off the coast of California shows how a laser beam fired from a Navy destroyer was able to set aflame an approaching UAV or drone, sending it crashing into the ocean.
"There was not a single miss" during the testing, said Rear Admiral Matthew Klunder, chief of Naval Research. The laser was three for three in bringing down an approaching unmanned aerial vehicle and 12 for 12 when previous tests are factored in.

Soooo, we need to walk on the moon again for what reason? With this kind of technology, I don't see the any reason to fund NASA other than having a payroll for a bunch of scientists and astronauts.

I think the moon landing was a hoax anyway. We've had several craft explode in mid air before breaking earth's gravity, yet they claim the technology we had in 1969 successfully put a human on the moon, and then returned them in a 'pod' that had no jet propulsion powerful enough that would get it off the moon's surface and back into our atmosphere!

That Hollywood studio stunt was done to fool the Russians. The insiders know it was a fake set up.

Oh. That one was just another of your non sequiturs designed to divert attention away from an argument you were losing. I got it.

Sometimes, WA, you're a smart guy. This isn't one of those times.

First, how do you fake and keep a secret when millions of people are involved? SIX TIMES, no less.
Second, do you really think the Soviets weren't watching and tracking every second, including the communications direction and time lag?
Third, why would we fake Apollo 13?
Fourth, how can you discount the evidence?

Now, a quick refresher on the Apollo spacecraft and its modules:

Please note the difference and functions of each module.

I could see the USSR faking a landing.

I've heard theories that when people died, they just didn't report it.

Several unreported deaths of Russian cosmonauts occurred prior to the end of the Cold War. The last was apparently in the fall of 1988 and the US offered to send a shuttle (already on the pad, a few days away from scheduled launch) in an attempt to rescue the crew but Moscow declined.
As far as faking a manned lunar mission, the Russians didn't try that because they knew it would be easily exposed, as I explained above.
Thats right

They know we are stupid okay. It's so ridiculous..they would never suspect it.Astroids orbit planets all the time. They are going to throw a small asteroid into the moons orbit.I still think we are to stupid to pull it off.

We're going to have to use a power source and an engine to move the asteroid. You think the aliens won't detect:
a) A power signature
b) Engine thrust
c) A change in trajectory?

I have news for you...50 nations on Earth can detect those things.

Only you would think that was even amusing.
You know Johnson, you're truly witty sometimes, but lately you're like Shaq at the line. Is it a side effect of your NNRTI?

That was really funny.
