None of the above.

But, Portman is an example of current reality. As gays are finding support to live uncloseted lives their families are forced to deal with them.

I'll give Portman props for courage, simply because I have known too many kids who lost their families when they came out. It was RuPaul who said just this past week, "as gay people, we get to choose our own families." That was putting a positive face on a reality that too many have had to face.

Parents--keep an extra seat at the Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner table for any of your kids' friends (as well as your kids) who are gay and having a hard time going home.

Immoral behavior has consequences.
There are no extra seats at my table.

You screen all your guests for their sexual behavior?

Also keep the Lysol, Windex and Clorox handy to disinfect everything after they leave.

Why must you continually imply that the aberrant sexual practices you approve have pervaded everything and everyone in society?

Does it make you feel better about yourself?

That was sort of the old school thinking.

As there has been more support for the notion that some people are just gay, there are fewer kids willing to play that kind of games with family. As a result, even people like Rob Portman and Dick Cheney have to decide how to respond when it's their own kid who is gay.

The message I understood was "Humble yourself before the Lord."
