I wasn't there. It was 23 or 24 years ago. My husband doesn't say that much about it and I don't ask. Has nothing to do with me. I've only known him a little over 9 years.

His sister's and friends have told me more, she did not want the last child, deserted them when he was 6 mos. old, went back to her home state, and shortly after that, she was killed in a MVA.

I love them all. Good boys, just like their Dad.

You all go ahead and talk behind my back now. I'm busy and it's what you do. My fault for not ignoring you to begin with.

Hope you all have horrible weekends.

What is interesting, and you are apparently missing it, is that you blame parental short-comings for behaviors that your condemn, at least so far as children not related to you.

Now, SOMEONE, either hubby, or you, or birthmom must then be willing to accept the responsibility for your stepson's choices. And clearly you area not willing to accept any of that responsibility yourself.

I guess you are faulting the mother of his child. And of course the government and President Obama.

'They' paid in around $2800. in federal withholding and go a check from IRS for $7300. That is NOT A REFUND YOU MORON. That is making a gain of $4500.00, not counting the additional they received from the state.
How many tax returns have you prepared?
Times that by the millions collecting plus dollars from IRS because of the EIC credit and see where you tax money is going.
Walmart, McDonald's, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Payless Shoes are Companies who have employees that pay bills, buy things like gasoline, groceries, clothing, pay rent/mortgage, ect. It all makes up an economy. 85 to 90 percent of the average person's money is SPENT in our economy.

As far as does he pay child support, I did answer you. Stop skimming. You're better at twisting.
Hmmmm. Child support counts as income for her, deduction for him.

Are they both getting EIC?

And BTW, I know a good many women who have those kinds of attributes.

Well, following the Lady's narrative, it was seeming that all was the fault of the baby's mom.

I say, if you don't want some woman you're not married to making major decisions in your kids' lives, then don't have kids with someone you're not married to. At least start off in the right direction.

FU reader. You know darn well I did not get married until 7 years ago, never had a child of my own to raise and, I modestly say, that any child that had me in their life has been the better for it.
What have you taught your 'children?' "Don't rise above living in the ghetto and go ahead and kill you unborn baby at any stage of it's gestation, I'll be there support your decision?"
You're such a phoney, look down your nose at everyone, clueless blowhard.
On the taxpayers dime again participating on topix during work hours? You teach your kids that?
Ahh yes. The childless lecturing on raising children. Classic.

His dad should have gotten a male nanny like on Family Affair. Maybe then he wouldn't be a deadbeat dad (using Gokeefe's definition).

When we talk about you on a public forum, it's not talking behind your back.

And no way I am having a horrible weekend after the great start you have given it. Party on!

You're as clueless as they come. Child support payments are NOT deductible, nor are they considered income for the custodial parent.

Because of the federal Equal Credit Opportunity Rights Act.
You're not required to disclose that information, but many recipients do in order to pad their chances of getting credit approval.
The government makes the non-custodial parent pay all the taxes. Child support comes off the bottom; off the net pay.

Good to know.

However, I still think there are some major details in error with regard to SL's scenario. Essentially, only one parent can claim the kid as a dependent. Now, it is possible for a single adult, low-income, no dependents to benefit from EIC, but in MY experience, from doing my own kids' taxes, nowhere near the amount she is claiming.

Clearly one or both parents have some income--hence the withholding. But not so much as would make them ineligible for EIC. The original thesis was that marriage would result in a loss of public benefits--untrue on its face, unless one of the partners had too much income. Eligibility is based on income and family size--not marital status.

I stand by my previous suggestion, which was for someone to sit down and work out the math. That's if loss of benefits is the real reason they are avoiding marriage.
