The 1918 Spanish flu epedemic killed somewhere in the number of 600,000. And strangely, most of it's victims were the young, harty men in the household.
My great grandfather died in it, and their were elderly people and children in the house. They all became ill, but only he died.
That left many widows and was before SS or any kind of entitlement help. They were strong women.
Interesting to read about. CA wired Philadelphia and said "How do we prepare?" Philadelphia wired back, "Build coffins."
Well, that was cheery, wasn't it?
Umm...your info isn't correct. Initially they put the number of deaths from that particular pandemic at 25 million. After studying, the numbers were readjusted to 50-100 million deaths.

600K is a median estimate for the US only.

I'm presuming that's where she got the number from, otherwise your numbers are right.

You cannot discount the high frequency of drug use as a large contributing factor in the scenerio either.
Drug use was much higher, pre-1938. Most drugs were legal. I believe cocaine was outlawed around 1906 but morphine and heroin were in over the counter remedies. I don't consider pot drug use. It's a simple plant. Laws against naturally occurring substances are pretty dumb.

Personal responsibility and accountability, what a concept.
With 40 years of Great Society, rising tax rates, and trebling of the illegitimate rate, the progressive solutions didn't work.
The past had its errors, but it also had things that worked.
I'll sound like Bob when I say this, but there once was a sense of community and identity, that generated what the academics call "social capital", this kept people in line.
The devalued society today doesn't do that.
Speak from your rectum again. It's been 50 years of so since 'the Great Society' and top marginal tax rates have pretty much declined from 91% to the high 30% range.

Gee. you can't read, don't have any good sources of info, have horrible math skills and spend more time on Topix than George himself.

seems stupid to me, with all the taunting and daring the sure losing side is committing.
how long can the normal people stand to hear the war drum beat, is the only unanswered question.
Yep, it's awfully dumb of people like you, spook, George, Karl and Hey Now to be so cocky. You'll be on the losing end when it goes down. Realize that under 30% of the nation even sides with you, when it comes to action, slice that number at least in half as most of you haven't the testes or the experience, let alone youthfulness to take on an overwhelming majority who will have the military on their side.

Because wide scale immigration has always been a problem, since Rome.
From about 1924-1965, immigration was far reduced, and not awarded as it is today to reward the Democrats.

and a rock is a deeper thinker than you.

the military just lived through a POTUS going to bed and serving up an Ambassador and a couple Navy Seals for a snack to the terrorists.

The military see's your ilk as a danger, and your ilk would not have the military on your side.

and if only 30% sides with me, then where is that majority you speak about passing laws?

your head is up your azz as usual, and your 30% is the liberal morons, because 70% voted against your drivel.

Oh, yea of no fact.

Wait for the hearings to finish, remember you were running around screaming 'we're'#1 prior to the 2012 election. How'd that turn out by the way?

Since you've never even been close to a member of the military, as many on here haven't, you con't even have the old lie to tell, active duty gave Obama great support.

We've long seen how Republicans bumble around such and most of us are tired of their crying wolf.

Active military keeps their opinions to themselves. They swear to uphold and defend the constitution and their final commander is POTUS. How can it be said that active duty gave Obama great support?

If Benghazi and a few Seals are a snack for Islamist, then the 1983 attack in Lebanon was a full coarse meal, served with coffee and cigars afterwards.

Desert Storm, although your typo, given the context, was amusing.
