Why did we fight this war???

Once again, a left-wing government throws away gains on the ground.

How, exactly, is this Obama's fault?

Obama purposely weakened Iraq by removing US military and intelligence assets too fast. This destabilized Iraq, which has collapsed into a lawless shithole. This is the reason why George H.W. Bush kept Schwarzkopf on a leash during Operation Desert Storm and didn't destroy Saddam's puny local tyranny. That puny tyranny stabilized the region and kept the Arabian oil flowing.

Now Iran is able to move materials and men to Syria and further harass and attack Israel. Almost as though Iraq doesn't exist outside of it's cities.

"President Barack Obama abruptly changed course Thursday on Iraq, saying that 'I don't rule out anything' as he searches for ways to help the ailing Iraqi army push back a terrorist horde that has captured to major cities and is marching toward Baghdad."

He "abruptly changed course", IE he was either "asleep at the wheel" or possibly even intended this to happen.

Then Obama wanted to get the US heavily involved in stopping further spread of instability from Iraq into Syria. Then Putin did the Nobel Peace Prize laureate thing and saved the world from destabilizing another Baathist tyranny in the middle east.

Eventually a tyrant will have to fix Iraq's problems and stabilize the region.

Well if a reporter says he "abruptly changed course" we have to assume that it is true even though there is no mention of what the original course was. Oh, and if a wingnut blogger claims that Iraq requested air strikes and the US said "no" we have to take that at face value too.

So, fiscal conservative Karl, how many more billions should we borrow from China to pay for this war?

Iraq, like Belgium, is not a "natural country"

Saddam kept the peace by employing Sunnis in government patronage jobs, including the Army (Assad does the same with Alawis/Druze/Christians in Syria).

Tyranny isn't usually stable, unless done in Singaporean "soft" form. Not to mention that average Singapore IQ is far higher than inbred (Google: cousin marriage) Arabs.

The NYT reported the Iraq request, Greenfield linked to it.

Being ignorant, you didn't notice that.

I'm not really here to offer a solution, I'm just criticizing Obama.

I'd much rather see Iran be forced to clean this mess up.

Repress the religiots AND keep Iran occupied. Why does Iraq not have a leader who can do that?

Isn't this the same guy that won a Nobel Peace Prize barely a month into his first term?

Since then he has increased troops in Afghanistan, seen violence in Syria, Libya, Iraq, Russia has seized Crimea and the world is far more unstable.

Oh and don't forget the line in the sand. Oh and don't forget the threats to Russia too.
