Have you ever had a day of fun in your life, Sterling?
Yeah, every day I don't read your claptrap.

We got lucky on the TV thing. We could go without food, but my dad was going to have Gunsmoke and Bonanza no matter what.
Too bad he had three daughters instead of sons, because I think he truly thought he was Ben Cartwright, just living in DE.

George. You were 10 during Watergate. You were watching Popeye cartoons, not Congressional hearings. Lunatic.
Yep, different world back then. We all watched as a family unit. Talked about it in school. I think some of it was because the world wasn't nearly as openly corrupt as it is now, and the whole act was still shocking to people - even if politics was dirty business.

At 10 we knew about the Vietnam War, and shootings at college campuses...in those days they actually did report the news and not what some mogul told them to report. And isn't it odd that I remember more startling photos and footage from those days than I ever see about ME-related combat.

Wake up, kid. We all grew up like that if we had parents with triple digit IQs.
That is what Duke posted. What did I post, Francis?

Or, he could write an anthologu of his accumulated knowledge. He could call it, "Everything I learned, I learned at 10 years old from TV."

Kids today, including my own, just don't get it. It was a different world.
Could the Vietnam war, The Weather Underground, Daily shoot outs between the cops and BPP members, campus protest, the assassinations of politicians and community activists, televised revolts and burnings in urban areas, overt racial attacks by bigots down south, have anything to do with captivating the US population on TV weekly????

You know, if you can't make a coherent and logical argument, just mock and denigrate your opponent.

If you have no rational basis for disagreement other then a negative ideology, demean by laughter. Derision neutralises and eventually makes the object mentally untouchable if applied consistently. It is a typical adolescent approach to dealing with adults you don't like. Dr. Druhl

Show me a coherent and logical argument by anyone on the last 3 pages of this thread. The entire thing is "I watched more TV as a kid than you did."

Your boy Georgie has that Dr. Druhl thing down to a science.

putting you and him in the same category: is like saying that a native of Mexico City and a native of Minneapolis are both the same.
Still on the Muslim thing, huh?

Interesting. I shook President Obama's hand when he was here for commencement. Muslim men are not allowed to touch a non-Muslim woman, even to shake hands.

They are also not allowed to drink alcohol. Yet Obama drinks beer.

Hmmm...

I agree. Both the Bush and Obama administrations have "encouraged" the media to sanitize the reality of the wars. 43 years ago, the footage that played on the evening news at 6:30 looked much like what happened at the Boston Marathon, and that was taken on film, with a substantial delay to air time...yet there was no censorship of the reality of war.
