No, I expect to receive exactly what I negotiate with my employer to receive. Of course, it helps if you have something to bargain with, like real skill and a work ethic.
Then you should quit complaining about raising the minimum wage.

Where did I state that I "take issue with it"?
My point is that neither your, nor my. taking time to "chat up" the local clerks is "giving" them a job. Like everyone in advanced societies, their positions are subject to technological advances. There's simply no way around it.
There is a way around it. It's called courage. I'm not surprised you are unfamiliar with it.

Outlaw passenger aircraft and you'll revive low end jobs in the railroad and steam ship lines.
Outlaw the internet and we'll bring back tens of thousands of jobs delivering newspapers.
Keep going. Your next line should be about coal miners.

Why, because I believe in paying people what their labor is worth?

You are patently incorrect Tip.
Customers' desires and choices determine whether or not a company will stay in business and how many people they employ.
A profitable grocery store wishing to remain in business that finds its automatic checkouts either un, or underutilized will eventually hire more cashiers and baggers.
woof
only one problem with your theory

fantasy.

Kroger would be considered profitable by sane people, and they prefer self checkouts.

reasoning.....8 self checkouts to 3 with cashier.

so you re-define another word?

courage is enlisting in the armed services during war time. Then you display it daily in the field.

you define courage as using a checkout girl at WalMart?

and you don't take it as such? So what are you now? I suppose that changes like my girlfriend changes clothes... much like your opinions, which you're free to do. I suggest not being so up tight when we all laugh at you.... that a normal response.

uh...because banks had to pay tellers to be on call to service after bank hours??? And you can do all your banking from an ATM?? Sure. You're right about the self check out though.. some things are just more convenient for a customer more than they cut down on labor cost...genius.

I wonder Tippyhead.
Have you considered that such blind willingness to embrace certain "technological advances" contributes directly to the exacerbation of the rates of unemployment among those of lower incomes?
woof
and $10.10 solves this problem??

Seems the left has plenty of arguments... only they should look in the mirror when presenting them.
I'm not arguing much except that the greed will never end. Many low wage individuals also owe thousands in student loans!

I made a simple statement that ATMs and self checkout registers were invented to reduce labor costs.

That ATMs provide convenience for after hours service doesn't really enter into that equation.

No. The courage to not have all decisions dictated to you based on someone else's bottom line.

yeah.... because banks were always open all night and you can do all your banking from an ATM. Okay....while they might cut back on labor costs, the convenience factor Ithink plays more of a role and is the main reason for them...but since you invented them you tell us.
