Well, let's see....the janitors at schools make quite a lot of money for the work.
The customer service professional makes quite a lot of money in a call center supported by the government.
Who, exactly, works for the feds gets minimum wage and who, exactly, can't rise above that?
What janitor at what school, other than a military academy, is a federal contractor?

The people who work for corporations who get federal government contracts, that's who.
For instance, those working in the food service industry, feeding military personnel.
This is not rocket science, you know?

No, it's not. But I'm not at all sure that many of those workers of which you speak are truly making minimum wage for any real length of time. If he really cared, he would have raised the minimum wage for the majority of workers earning it in private industry.

That is exactly what he asked Congress to do.

He can't do that by himself.

Nope. Who, really, keeps a minimum wage for the long-term and wants to support on a family on it? Disabled folks are excluded.

My mistake. I was under the impression that he was for the people even though he allows corporations such as Monsanto and Big Pharma to run the show.

Regardless, this is right up there with the Lily Ledbetter disaster.

Are you suggesting a 20 dollar an hour minimum wage?

What are you suggesting?

What in the world are you trying to communicate? Are you criticizing Obama for the minimum wage not being higher? In one post you seem to suggest the minimum wage is of no import and then in the next suggest that Obama is a sellout because it is so low?

Obama did not raise the minimum wage by executive order. You people have no idea what is going on around you.

No, I would not, regardless of the political affiliation of the President doing it.

So when is Obama's executive order raising the minimum wage on federal contracts going to be reviewed by a Court?

Do tell.

So tell us, where are employers going to get this extra money to pay their employees? You got a stash somewhere or something? Gee, maybe it should be raised to $100 an hour, by your theory everyone would be rich.
The extra money will be made because the business will be making more money from the people (their sales will increase) therefore this will make up the difference. The people will buy more because they will have more money to spend.

Read this Tony Let's say I have two full-time (unlikely) minimum wage workers, and I pay them $7.25 per hour. The Fed raises the minimum wage by 39%-$2.85 per hour, which adds $.042 in payroll taxes, as well. Those two employees now cost me an additional $261.60. Yikes! That seems like a LOT! If I'm a retail shop open 11am - 9pm, I have to find another $26 in net sales per hour to break even. How on earth am I going to get that? I'd better fire one of them so I can use his income to pay the other one... Except I don't have to because EVERY OTHER MINIMUM WAGE WORKER in my country is also making an extra $114 per week, now. They have more money to spend at my business, helping me to effectively meet my overhead. You know what Bush's people found out after Bush's tax cuts? If you give more money to struggling families, they don't place it in the stock market or long term savings like the 1% do. They spend it. Immediately. They fix their cars, they pay their overdue bills, they buy clothes their kids need and shoes without holes in them, they buy food for the first time in two weeks... which is all great for the economy. The same thing will happen WHEN we raise the minimum wage.

Even $10.10 an hour doesn't allow for much spending at the discretionary level and besides which, less than 3.5M are making minimum wage. Have you noticed "value meals" creeping up to the $7 mark to cover healthcare, etc.? Do you honestly believe that someone on a budget will increase their purchase of such items, or are you realistic enough to acknowledge that purchase of such items will decrease by those on a budget?
