How could a person get the windows or doors open to get out? Also, how could anyone survive the cold temperature of the pond? But, yes, everyone should know how to swim, but not everyone does.<quoted text>
When you drive into water, the car will, at first, float. There have been MANY of these tragedies, and 911 officials have noted that people generally do make a phone call at this time. If she had dialed 911, she would have been told to get out of the car. The person could open their door for a while. they should at least open their windows, unfasten their seatbelt, and prepare to get out! Even if you think you can't swim, your chances of rescue or survival are better outside the car. The boyfriend could not break the window.

Dear Columbus Dispatch. Please discontinue the comment section of your articles. It is being abused and is know longer serving a positive purpose. Everything is negative and the majority of the time racist. The comments that are being posted on families of African Americans in the news are getting out of hand. The same things are not being posted or even written about when it comes to other races. What type of readers do you have? This is not 1930. It is 2011 and white people are just as racist as ever and your news paper is giving them a meeting place to show that if it ain't white, it ain't right. Why not filter these comments? Is the Columbus Dispatch agreeing with these non fearing human beings? They don't serve the God that I serve because God don't like ugly, and it gets pretty ugly in here.
No need for the Dispatch to close off the comments section; don't jump into the comment sections of the news stories if you don't like what you see. They aren't visible until you click the link.

Okay...maybe I should have used the words 'open expression' instead... BTW, pull the 'stick out'...

Thank you for correcting my spelling (choose to choice) when one is in a rush and expressing a opinion things happen on the keyboard . However with all this black Drama thats been going on and lets not forget who came to the rescue last week Jesse.J. you people act as if your invincible when the finger is pointed at you when your wrong . And yes that was a Ghetto Scene and speaking of all of us coming together black & white that will never happen due to Jesse.J. etc. always finding fault and blaming the white for the blacks mishaps NEVER!

That would be nice indeed... you know I know > its not going to happen the world sure would be a better place . So don't contradict me get on your black activist leaders their the ones that brain wash you people against white for something we today had nothing to due with > way over 200 years ago.How about one German man (Hitler) done to the Jews do we see Jews> holding protest rioting and calling in a Jewish leader because they were done wrong in the Holocaust a destruction of human life and not to mention the torture, cruelty they endure its been put to rest because todays people are not responsible what happen hundreds of years AGO , don't you think ? So practice what your preaching

Thank you for your helpful comments. I live in a rural area and worry about flooded roads. I am going to print this out and put it into my car.

The Dispatch, which exists because in this country we also allow Freedom of the Press, is unlikely to quell free speech.

Perhaps I do not feel sorry for the drunk drivers but my heart breaks for the children. Their lives were cut short.

The article stated that her and the child's father had been in an argument, maybe she was extremely upset. Not that she should have been driving in that condition.

The autopsy will be done today then the question will be answered if she was drunk. But in the scheme of things, this is still a loss of life and shuold be respected.

But they do delete posts and shutdown threads. Technically speaking they are restricting free speech. They might not shut down the shut but is is their right and an option.

What a bunch of f*cking idiots......I PERSONALLY knew her .......she never drove into the pond on purpose she was trying to get away from her daughters dad as he was in a violent fit of rage and supposedly tried to stab her...she was as kind as they come and would give her last to anyone especially her sisters a great mom and a beautiful woman I spent alot of time with her and we worked together shortly I still love and miss her and kamiyah. Saddest funeral ive ever been to. Show some respect.
