California Senate Passes New Gun Control Laws – Including Ammo Registry
by Jim Hoft
The California Senate passed SB 53 and several other gun control measures this afternoon. The SB53 bill creates new state permits that require background checks for buyers of ammunition and sets up an ammo registry.
The Sacramento Bee reported:
The California Senate today approved a package of bills that tighten the state’s regulation of firearms by outlawing detachable and large capacity magazines, keeping track of people who buy ammunition and widening the category of offenders who are prohibited from owning guns for 10 years.
Senate Democrats drafted the bills in response to December’s school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
“The package, if you look at the whole array of measures before this body today, are designed to close loopholes in existing regulations, keep the circulation of firearms and ammunition out of the hands of dangerous persons, and strengthen education on gun ownership,” Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg said to his colleagues as he argued in favor of the legislation.
“These bills attempt to respond to those well-publicized tragedies and many more that go unpublicized.”
Republicans, who hold a minority in the state Senate, voted against the bills, arguing that they would make it harder for law-abiding citizens to access weapons, while doing little to combat crime. They said mass shootings are caused by mental illness, not a lack of gun regulations.

I honestly believe the CA Senate and all government agencies have an underlying agenda to take control of the people by taking away our rights one by one. And this agenda is being implemented slowly by passing a bill at a time making sure there is sufficient time between the bills so that the citizens forget and do not realize more and more rights are being taken away. The United States governments who are supposed to represent the people , not lie and take away our freedoms. The US government is so focused on guns and not people. The bigger issues in America are that we have more homeless people, fewer good paying jobs, more reductions in funds for schools, medical, police, fire fighters, jails. Damn, I wish the CA senate and government agencies would put as much efforts into these issues as they do guns. America land of the free? The governments are bigger, more corrupt, and forget they work for the people. We have the right to bear arms being speech, firearm, or being a collective of people to protect us and our families from the government and other people who mean us harm. America is land of the corrupt government.

They govern with your consent. It's that "getting the government I/you/we deserve" thing.
