Me, I'm going whole hog with the sacrifices this year...No Muslim food, no Jewish food, no curry-based Indian food, no fish, no tofu, and no Brussel Sprouts. No bus riding either.

LOL Didn't it start on Ash Wednesday? If so I have to figure out what I haven't done in the past three days.

I'll give up fish. Except for sea scallops and shrimp, but they're not really fish. Anything with gills.

I vowed to quit procrastinating, but decided it could wait.

Well I waited for someone else to start the thread. You know what they say, you want something done, do it yourself.

eat fish. Pray to the virgin mary. Stand, sit, kneel, repeat 50 times. Do whatever you want all week and go to confession every week and pray to mary for jesus to forgive you. Don't let your kids be altar boys. Duke will tell you what I left out, his family is catholic

Same here. Never understood how eating fish on friday is supposedly giving up meat. Food is either muscle tissue or vegetation unless they are eating dirt

Sunday - 1:22 PM: Still trying to think of something I have not done since Wednesday and that would be a sacrifice. It's supposed to be a sacrifice, right?

I gave up brussels sprouts, habaneros and broccoli. I'm not Catholic either, but you all have my support.

If you're into the Lent thing, yes, you are supposed to give up something(s) that will supposedly make you appreciate what you have.

I already appreciate what I have every day, and do not live to excess, so that's why I gave up all that stuff I listed in the beginnning.

Any religion that tells you WHAT to eat is being run by control freaks. They may have relevant things to say about HOW MUCH you eat, but when they tell me what then they are getting too much in my business.

I agree. Gluttony is a much a sin as drinking alcohol to the point of drunkeness. Everything in moderation.

You know what, I truly do appreciate everything God has provided for me, starting with a life that allowed me to be taught about Him, to this beautiful planet and the smallest of life on it and the parents He provided me.

Instead of giving up something, I am going to really try to add an hour of meditation with God to my day. That is what Billy Graham says he regrets the most. More time spent with God, one on one.

Not that I think I am Dr. Graham.

I thought you were supposed to sacrifice something to remind you how Jesus sacrificed to wash your sins away; however, I'm not Catholic.
