There are different types of "mutations". Once the change benefits the survival of the species its called adaption and not mutation anymorebecause that's too broad of a definition.

<quoted text> no they aren't. That's why there are two separate definitions if you didn't notice when I posted both. What you're trying to say are mutations aren't. They're called adaptions. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_differe...
They're separate but linked concepts, read what I've written again.

Let's try a very basic question. Where does the genetic changes within a population that lead to greater adaptation come from? What do we call those changes?

adaption. Or evolution. Like Americans evolving/ adapting/ or mutating into fat slobs? See shy there's different meanings even though the 3 may in some way partly describe each other?

You think adaptation is what call the genetic changes that lead to greater adaptation? Or evolution?! Or that a sedentary lifestyle is caused by genetic changes?

Dude, I quit. I'm ducking out of this conversation. You're quite amazingly, too stupid to try and engage with on any meaningful level. Just, wow.

And that entire conversation began because PantyBoy initially claimed that the fossil record does not support the theory of evolution.

no. I call genetic changes that benefit a species survival adaption. I call genetic misfortunes to a species survival mutations. Why? Because there is a difference. Okay, bye.

Don't worry, it's not really manbearpig. It's me, Al Gore. I'm spreading manbearpig awareness. Here, each of you kids take a pamphlet and a bumper sticker. I hope now you boys see that this is totally serial. The next time, it could be the "real" manbearpig. Can I just get you to sign the awareness sheet? Just your name and phone number and where you first heard about manbearpig?
