Why did Schloss join the Discovery Institute?

Like Townes, Schloss believes science can contribute something to the question of whether the nature of the universe is accidental or purposeful. That’s why the Westmont College biology professor was an early supporter of the Discovery Institute, which was founded in 1990.

Why did he decide to ‘part ways’?

“Is there a way we can formalize (that understanding) and make it scientifically rigorous rather than intuitive?” Schloss said.“I think that’s a fully legitimate question.” Schloss said that while he supports science applying its tools to the question, he disagrees strongly with the institute’s stance against evolution.“I THINK EVOLUTIONARY THEORY IS COMPATIBLE WITH FAITH,” Schloss said.

I agree with the statement near the end of the article that Schloss’ review of Ben Stein’s film is a must-read. It is quite long, but don't let that stop you. It is Very well done.

I assume that when he refers to 'extremists' on the scientific side of the debate he means those that are firmly opposed to DI's attempts to pollute science.

I got the opinion he was talking more about those that are continually abusive in their language criticizing ID.

Over, I think he did a good job with his reviews. He chastises some evolutionists for the things they said, but he doesn't pull many punches chastising the DI either.

I assumed that he was referring to those like Dawkins who regularly attack faith, as opposed to those who just assert that faith is not relevant to science.
