What a bunch of BS...."Gonzalez is awaiting a deportation proceeding this fall in a Memphis immigration court. Her attorney is asking for a deferment because Gonzalez knows no one in Mexico, she has community support and it would be too hard on her family to lose her" Why should her family loose her at all...they like her are here ILLEGALLY!!! Funny how thses ILLEGALS can't go back home because they don't know anyone or all their friends are here but that doesn't stop them from leaving their friends back home and comming to AMERICA does it?

Gonzolez is now 18. Seven years ago Veracruz was not experiencing violence. She said they left to escape the violence there when she was age eleven. I had friends who lived there then and I went there several times. What she says is not true. There was not a lot of violence in Veracruzback then.

This is Americas problem if they close the border have stricter immigration policy 30 years ago or did something about it we would not be in this situation right now we will not be able to deport all of them back instead of thinking negative we should find a solution and hope something good will come out of this

Would the same scholarship also apply to children who are honor roll and are citizens of the USA? IF not it is unconstitutional for this country to treat illegals better than citizens.

WOlud you be willing to donate to the scholarship fund for as many illegals or children of illegals as you would like to see get a scholarship because I worked to help my children get through college; not the children of people who come here to suck us of our life savings. Once they graduate from college, they are not legally allowed to work here so what is the point. Send the invaders home.

They are taught very young to lie, it just can't be that the parents and she knows no one back home-another lie. Plus the parents have to have sisters, brothers. Bunch of baloney, they all need to return home.

So if I break into your house you would let me stay because I'm one of gods children??? Is that all it takes to be absolved of breaking the law...we can all do whatever we want and just say we are one of gods children and get away with it???

I do have a great solution! I think these people would make their homelands so proud and such assets. Since they have been here they can teach English classes to their countrymen if they can speak English and since their so educated, they can get great jobs and help their countries. Just imagine the millions of them that are here can make a huge difference in their own countries with their families. A win for both countries..

Are you f**king kidding me?? You're saying that illegal immigration is the fault of America because she did not secure her borders 30 years ago? Is that what you are saying???

Are you saying that the reason you are here illegally is because we didn't have a wall high enough to stop you?? OH GIMME A FRIKKIN BREAK!!

However high the wall, you had the choice to cross over illegally or not, amigo. You had that choice. And you choose the illegal way. So who's fault is that? Who made that choice, the USA or YOU??

STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM. You are not a victim. YOU ARE A CRIMINAL BY CHOICE. Yes, you are. In spite of all the physical barriers we put up, you CHOSE to go through them.

So don't give me this psycho excuse that it's America's fault for not putting Uzis and the military on the border 30 years ago to protect our borders. BE HONEST: YOU MEXICANS DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT INTERNATIONAL BORDERS WHEN YOU WANT TO ESCAPE, DO YOU????

Don't EVEN try to rationalize it. This latest reason of yours is so far-out and X-Files, you don't seriously think anyone would go for it, do you? I don't think even illegal aliens would go for it. LOL!

Stop smokin what yer smokin. It just makes you look STUPID.

Gonzalez needs to go as well as all family members who are here illegally because "it would be too hard on her family to lose her", therefore they all need to be deported with her so she won't be alone.

No Papers, No Scholarship: Undocumented Students Could Lose Out.

TAMPA (2011-8-8)-

"Florida students unable to document citizenship for themselves or their parents may lose their Bright Futures college scholarships because of a new paperwork requirement.

Due to a change in the law, students who qualify for the lottery-funded merit scholarship must now fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Most students complete the form online – and a valid social security number is required for it to work.

The change has created a chilling effect among undocumented students and stirred debate over whether colleges and universities should be put in positions to scrutinize immigration status. Even students who are here legally say they’re afraid to fill out the form because it might tell federal authorities that their parents are illegal immigrants.

The single sentence requiring the FAFSA was included in a 71-page bill approved in May. It raises SAT and ACT requirements and community service hours needed to qualify for the scholarship."
