Do we really need to make this a criminal activity? Don't we have better things to do with our time and money?

You're joking I hope. This goof caused over $18,000 in damages to public property. The defacing has used my tax-dollars in repairs! The tagger should be made to clean his mess and then serve a very long prison term. Looking the other way when people damage property will only encourage other goofs to do it. Let the jerk paint murals on his walls at home, not on public properties.
