Illustrating an intellectual confusion common on campuses, Vanderbilt University says: To ensure "diversity of thought and opinion" we require certain student groups, including five religious ones, to conform to the university's policy that forbids the groups from protecting their characteristics that contribute to diversity.

If the "religious" freeeks want to discriminate - as opposed to holding certain buybull beliefs about "sinning" - then there's nothing wrong with tossing those "religious" freeeks off campus or with defunding them.

Obviously there's a reversal of the very meaning of the word "tolerance" when abject, discriminatory bigots claim they're the victims of discrimination.

If a religious group wants to discriminate, insofar as their membership is concerned, I see no problem. Except where support by the university is concerned. They should receive no funds and no supplies, and should have to rent facilities. Otherwise, they should abide by the non-discrimination policy of the university.

The very purpose of a religious group should be to reach out to others in love. Why would they have to discriminate??

That may be their stated purpose, but their true purpose is to control the mind and keep their flock dependent upon them, and to fill their coffers. O.K., I am a bit cinical about religious organizations, but I have good reason to be. If they lived up to their stated purpose, we wouldn't have to fight them all the time.
