God has given us all free will, maybe a mistake in the shooters case, but he did. Your choice to choose God, or what you want. When a land is God-forsaken, it is not that he forgot about it, it is that the people chose to not call on him. So please tell me what kind of close-knit community produces a gun hoarding mother and child that goes off the deep end? There is no documentation regading autism. Sounds like the politicians trying to cover up the real story.

..........Oops, your ignorance is showing. Free will, your choice to do what is right, that itchy little feeling that someone will benefit from your good deed, or what you want to do and the heck with what it costs others so you can benefit. Don't what the shooter got out of that horrible deed, but that was his will, not that of Gods.

We here up in Canada feel your pain that all the families are going thru and can't even imagine how someone can do such a horrific thing to a bunch of beautiful little children. They were taken away so viciously. We up here feel that all Americans need to make your elected officials be held accountable for allowing these military issue weapons available to the public. The American people need to stand together and get those guns banned now. My fear is if they don't act fast it can happen again. Our hearts ache here to with many of us young Canadians having children the same age as the ones lost. Our thoughts and prayers will be forever with all of you people of New Town. Your Canadian friends will always be here for you.

Well the us government is the most violent serial killer around and Americans need these weapons to protect themselves from a dictatorial regime.

I can name off other countries which had mass shootings, Norway being one of them. Canada has had at least 10 school shootings. So don't make this an American issue. It's world-wide. And if guns are banned, those who have murder on their minds will just find another method. Weapns aren't the problem. The problem is the individuals who have the urge to kill.

Yes we have had shootings here agree. Montreal being the worst. But this is far too common in the U.S as of lately. Movie theater shootings, shopping mall shooting, columbine, arizona where the politician was shot in the head and those innocent people were killed, virginia tech. you get my point. As for Canada having ten mass shootings I would like to know where. Sorry I forgot one the Boxing Day shooting in Toronto between two gangs of punks killing Jane Creba on Young street in Toronto. but as for mass shootings we have had one where 28 women died at the montreal university. Yes we have other conflicts where the Canadian military and the O.P.P killed a couple of native protesters at Oka. You need to tell me where were these school shootings in Canada because I'm in the R.C.M.P and do not recall them. Besides this is not about finger pointing it should be what to do so this wont happen again.

I agree to a point about having weapons but semi-automatic weapons are not necessary.I am not a fan of our own government they are all crooks. My job requires me to have a weapon but when civilians have more fire power than law enforcement that's a big problem.

Hand guns or semi-automatic weapons aren't the problem and in most shootings, there's no one there with any fire power to stop them. So civilians having more fire power than law enforcement really isn't the issue. One death is one too many. People keep focusing on the weapon, when it's the persons urge to kill that drives it, not the method of killing. A ban on weapons will only result in those who have the urge to kill to use a different method.

There is no difference between "civilians" and " law enforcement", both being human beings.

Your gun laws need to be more strict. Should be law that you have guns locked in a gun cabinet with trigger locks. Then have to store the ammo in a different locked safe. As for the comment about packing more heat than cops that is a poor attitude to have. To have more fire power than the cops why do you feel you need that. Are you worried they might come knocking on your door about some things you may be into.

You should take a long look at the 12000 gun related deaths per year which those statistics are not including some police shootings. Yes their are some police shootings but not nearly as common as you make it sound.

Guns are not the issue. Murders in Canada are much more brutal than in the United States, homicide rate via stabbing and beatings.
The problem is the individual, not the weapon they choose to kill with.

Ever even been in Canada? So how many children could Lanza have beaten our stabbed or adults as compared to mowing them down with a semi-auto? Our beatings and stabbings are mostly among aboriginals and other lower class types, not in schools either and are fueled by alcohol. I live in the murder capital of Canada and read it every day in out RAG the Free Press

You don't live in the USA, but that never stops you from spreading mis info about it. At least I research valid sources and no, they're not mainly lower class stabbing and beating people to death in Canada.
Most who own semi automatics are responsible people and don't go shooting people. If the man used a bomb, many more would die and access to making a bomb is easier to get than a semi auto.

Dont be silly, Government has no right to tell a gun owner to keep his bullets separate from his gun, thats impractical and ridiculous.
The question is in regards to keeping government in check, they are the servants not the masters. Do you have a hard time understanding this?
What do you presume the word unalienable to mean?
