This crap again??

An asteroid impact, the trail of which still exists today in the south of Austria as it dropped into the Mediterranian Basin from the northeast. Google it and see.

A natural phenomena misunderstood by a primitive society that did not comprehend the mechanics of rain.

Saying it was "god's punishment" makes as much sense as saying God sent the drunk driver into the group of children standing on the sidewalk because they were evil.

>But the easiest thing to know is that Lot does not perceive these men to be exclusively homosexual, if homosexual at all, because he is offering these men his virgin daughters.

Ignoring this strained exegesis of the alleged homosexual aspects, that is some f'ed up, misogynist sht that Lot, the good guy, is pulling.

As if that wasn't bad enough, he ran up in the hills with those poor girls and was already screwing HIS DAUGHTERS like 24 hours AFTER his town was destroyed and he had just been widowed. And they say HE was the most righteous man in Sodom? God had odd ideas at times. At least the Sodom citizens kept THEIR HANDS TO THEMSELVES, unlike the girls' father. This makes HIM look insane and vile.

What makes you so convinced it's a true story ? Perhaps it's a parable.

Good point. The Old Testament is populated with more human cesspools than all of Jerry Springer's oeuvre taken together. That's why the OT high drama on the order of Homer or Shakespeare.

Examining a given text on its own terms in no way denotes a belief that the text is not fiction. The evaluation of this text, however, is much more important since there are so damn many fundie cretins running around.

Me? Convinced? I'm not even a Kriztian, you tool, YOU are the one wearing out your knees every Sunday, eating that nonsense like it is popcorn. I find it all rubbish.

For instance, almost ALL bible stories are lifted whole cloth RIGHT out of ancient or pagan myths.

For example,,the whole Mrs. Lot looking back and being destroyed for it. That is RIGHT out of the myth of Orpheous. He was allowed to remove his wife from Hades, but neither could look back on the way out. Right at the end, she glanced over her shoulder and was whisked right back down...but poor Orpheous never knew till free. Same as Lot and his wife's looking back.

While we are at it, since you are all Christy and such, WHAT possible lesson does Lot f*cking his daughters and getting them pregnant teach? If that was done NOW, Lot would be looking at serious prison time. Yet, since it is from THE BIBLE, it is OK behavior.

I liked this article.

It agrees with the Jewish understanding of the tale.

If Tucson Jack is on his knees, it probably isn't in the Lutheran or UCC or whatever church he's found near his new home. That just isn't their ritual. But maybe he's getting lucky somewhere else.

I don't think the sin of Sodom had anything to do with gay people.

So many mentions of "may have" or "could be." This article is nothing more than an a flight of fantasy, as new interpretations of the Bible generally are.

Actually, the new interpretation of the story is the one which projects the "sin" of Sodom as homosexuality, this article is more in line of how it was traditionally taught before modern day "Christians" with an agenda got a hold of it.

Even a nitwit could see the problem with Lot offering his daughters to mob of gay men. Logic is never a common trait amongst homophobes.

If there WERE a bunch of gay men clamoring for sex, of course he offered his daughters, he KNEW they were in no danger of being sexed up by Sodom's version of the Village People, he wanted to keep them virgin for HIMSELF the next day when they got liquored up and he got to RAVAGE them himself.

A much nicer Bible image.

The long answer:

As you know, frightening, soul-less Romney has in the past recounted an appalling story of taking a long drive with his family and putting the dog in a crate on the car's roof. They laughed at the dog being so frightened that it evacuated in its own (portable) kennel, something dogs don't do casually.

Just recently he was on TV trying to flip flop away from this - as he does with everything - and in an effort to dismiss the sick aspects of his animal abuse he made a Freudian slip: Meaning to suggest the dog was actually perfectly well protected, he referred to the crate as being "airtight."

Of course we know what happens to animals if you put them in an airtight crate.

This typifies Mittens' craven tendency to say ANYTHING in an attempt to appease whatever audience he is trying to manipulate.

The short answer:

Because I loathe the man.

You cannot read this passage in English and get the correct teaching. Hebrew has 21 letters no vowels & reads right to left. The passage is about fallen angels who left their habitat in heaven, followers of Lucifer.
In Hebrew it grieved Lot to sacrifice his daughters, but it's teaching is sometimes you have to sacrifice good things for better or more Holy Things. As for his wife she disobeyed God , who let her perish. And declares that she is not worth the salt of the earth. Mythical or Myths are not of the original manuscripts, but of mans mis translations.
Everyone needs a Original Strongs Concordance, a GOOD King James, and a Smiths Hebrew dictionary.
You'll find many answers to questions that are senseless in English. The NIV and other newer translations
are "VERY" inaccurate. Be Careful in your studies.
Since they are THEIR stories, I recommend starting here, rather than some johhny-come-lately gentile sources:
