Stoned driving is uncharted territory

Experts say they don't know what level of marijuana impairs a driver, but statistics show that fatal crashes involving drugged drivers have jumped. Law enforcement puts much of the blame on the growth of medical marijuana use.

In California alone, nearly 1,000 deaths and injuries each year are blamed directly on drugged drivers, according to CHP data, and law enforcement puts much of the blame on the rapid growth of medical marijuana use in the last decade. Fatalities in crashes where drugs were the primary cause and alcohol was not involved jumped 55% over the 10 years ending in 2009

Studies suggest otherwise. What you are doing, is giving a platform for the prohibition apologists. Driving under the influence is illegal and should not be part of the conversation.

That's true, and DUI is illegal anyhow, whether it is cough syrup, perscription drugs, marijuana, or alcohol. It should not be part of the conversation. Just because DUI is illegal, does that mean we should outlaw alcohol? Nobody suggests that. If you drive stoned, you should get a DUI, if you argue otherwise, you're falling into the prohibitionist trap. If you smoke pot, in a cafe, in your home, in a friend's home, you shouldn't drive, but it shouldn't give license to police to invade your home, make you unemployable, restrict your civil liberties by putting you in a box. It is a waste of resources. Decriminalize it, regulate it, and tax it.

Although I feel strongly that marijuana use does not affect MY ability to drive safely I hear and understand what you are saying, so I won't argue that point any more for now.

Obviously you don't. Using marijuanan to alter your mental state, then driving is clear cut DUI. How can you say you didn't drive under the influence, yet admit you drove after smoking? Have you ever driven a car or truck after smoking and still "high"? Yes or no? simple "english language" question.

Hey dumb arse, when you sober up, go back and read what I wrote. I did not say that!

Just how drunk are you? In the first sentence of this post you say "yet admit you drove after smoking" now you are asking me did I drive after smoking.

Give yourself about six or eight hours to sober up, then go back and read what I wrote.

Lay off that bottle Idiot!!!!

I think you may be misunderstanding his question and he's not following your response in the way that you mean it. The lack of punctuation in your initial response makes the sentence difficult to follow:

The 'Did I .........did I' in there does not compute. Maybe there's a comma or a period missing? Y'all are getting into an argument over a misunderstanding rather than the issue at hand.

I don't get "high" from using pot. I use small amounts at a time for medical purposes. If I used large amounts to get "high", perhaps things would be different.

So, to make you happy, yes I have driven after using pot, but no I wasn't "high".
