What a horrible thing to happen. I can't even imagine how terrified she was running from that train. God rest her soul.

Some people on here are just nuts..!! Have some common since. These were kids..!! Kids do things without thinking of the consequences. My heart goes out to the families of the young girl and the friend that was with her.. I am sure he is full of guilt himself.:(

Come on 19 is hardly a "kid"- some women are in college by the time they are 19- some women are married at 19- to me 19 is a full grown adult!!!

They both knew what they doing. They both knew trains run on that line day and night. They made a discussion to fish from the railroad bridge. Whether itís speeding, not wearing a seat belt, doing drugs or running with scissors they both knew what could happen. I guarantee you, they thought they would hear the train coming and get off the bridge before it arrived.

This is a terrible tragedy. I'm so sorry for the family and friends of this girl.

It seems like there have been a "rash" of deaths on train tracks in the past year. Perhaps the news media needs to remind the public that train tracks (and several feet on either side) are private property -- owned by the railroad and it is trespassing to be on or near them. It may not stop people from getting on them, but something needs to be said. Think how the engineer of the train feels now -- he'll be haunted by this incident. Just my opinion.

What a heroic young man! Take a girl fishing and bail out when the train starts coming. Fishing on the railroad trestle adds new excitement when the fish aren't biting.
