A poem written for a scene in a mystery novel

I wrote this poem for a scene in my latest Frank Cole mystery (released September, 2010)-- the scene is a poetry reading in a coffeehouse called The Beaten Ground. It's called 'Fall Out of They Song' and I hope you like it:
Countless tugs hold my feet to the floor
While your notes above and around me soar.
I leap, I reach, and still I long,
For the maybe meaning of your song.
Is the sun any closer, way up there?
Or, like you, does it refuse to share?
Is it the distance that makes you so dear?
And is that the reason you donít come near?
Like the coolness brought by an unseen breeze,
The pollen dust on the ardent bees,
The rain that drops from the heavy clouds,
Come, fall out of thy song, for now.
