With this president, there is a decided lack of trust. It is Moscow on the Potomac.

The Nationwide Tea Party Coalition announces “Hall Pass on That,” the alternative to President Barack Obama’s September 8th address to school children across the nation. The group asks that schools who choose to participate in the president’s September 8th program offer an alternative to students and families who do not wish to view, or have their children view, a partisan address or participate in activities that did not follow proper educational protocol or obtain parental consent.
Dana Loesch, Nationwide spokesperson for the Nationwide Tea Party Coalition, announced the launch of the Hall Pass on That website: http://www.hallpassonthat.com to provide parents who oppose the Department of Education’s proposed presidential program.“We are suggesting several action steps parents can take if they do not approve of their children participating in a partisan presentation conducted without their consent.” The four steps propose by the Coalition: 1. Contact the child’s school to find out whether or not your school is participating in the president’s September 8th program. 2. If your child’s school is participating, ask what alternatives there are for the children of families who wish their students learn about the establishment of the country respective to the Founding Father’s intentions. Discussion can focus on the Constitution, the definition and actions of a republic, and the responsibility of elected leaders to their constituents. 3. Ask if the school can excuse your child from the presentation and instead receive a DVD of the address and copy of the activity directives to be evaluated by parents at a later date. 4. Request meeting with the school board, superintendent, and principal to inquire as to why parents were excluded from the decision-making process of this event. |

1 I don't like Mr. Obama's policies (not all), but the 'objection', even for me as a Republican, is clearly a thinly veiled 'over the top' racist agenda fraught with hyperbole- sorry, I'm not that stupid to buy-in to the so-called 'outrage' about hir 'message' to students- there is obviously no 'nefarious' intent------which can not be said about the 'objectors' to a Presidential Message.. all of a suddent, parents are 'concerned' about their little 'white' children listening to the President of the United States of America. Nay.....my family and I aren't that STUPID ! neither are my kids |

As a school teacher in Middle School, my students paid attention to what the President said. We discussed it afterwards and we discussed how important it is to stay in school and do good.
His speech was a motivater for my kids and for that I thank him! |

My childs school Venice Middle School didn't show it. My child came home and I said I taped the presidents speech for you to see. The response was, "Why bother, my school didn't show it to us."
The question I have is why did they show the inagural live on tv to the students? GOP then why do you send your children to the PUBLIC GOVERNMENT RUN SCHOOLS. Send your kids to a private school, not the government run public school. The next day, the teacher did indeed show the presidents speech. And for those who didn't want to see it,they had a choice. They could go to another room and write a paper on respecting the presidency or watch the back to school speech. Can you guess what happened? Not one student wrote a paper. |
