I am happy for them. They actually do their own work and are honest people.

What ever happened to the students that were caught cheating? Is it true that these students were on the National Honor Society? Kicked off and then reinstated?

Yes, its true. They received many awards at Saturday's graduation ceremonies. A slap in the face to the others who worked hard and weren't recognized.

well everybody can say what they want its not gonna change a thing. And when it happens the next time... well we'll just see what happens - depends on who the kid is!! So next year all you juniors about to become seniors - new NHS students, you go right ahead and cheat your way through because Lowville says it's okay!!! Good luck with that!!! Unbelievable!

There are so many students who work hard and follow school policies that are not recognized. I can not believe that it was decided, by the National Honor Society advisors to reinstate these two individuals just so they would get numerous awards at graduation,etc..etc. What kind of message are they sending other students? I am so glad that I do not have a child that attends LACS. It seems as though the districts standards have been sloping downward these last several years. It will be interesting what happens when these two students go to college!
Will mommy and daddy be able to help them out???

And you know, its not just merit groups such as NHS that look the other way. Many parents have told me that there have been plenty of student atheletes that have been kept on teams after they have been caught breaking training rules for one reason or another. I think that is so insulting to those serious players who abide by the training rules. It is one thing to break them and not get caught (although I don't agreee with that either) but it is another to break them, get caught, spoken to by the coach and the school administration and not be suspended. It isn't the lesson I want my children to learn, but there it is.

So true. It is just unfortunate to hear what is happening. No wonder most kids today have no respect for rules. Why should they? They are not held accountable by the people who make them. What's the point? Luckily, some students see through the mask that some students wear. Others may look up to these students that cheat. I can only imagine what they will make of their lives.

well let me tell you maybe it wasn't her first offense, but you have no idea what the other one got away with all throughout his high school career. Spoiled little mamma's boy! From pulling fire alarms to hazing to copying other students to the latest incident. He just slid under the radar all the way through... why?? And now he's a big soccer player (haha NOT) at LeMoyne... there on full scholarship I believe! As they say, it's not who you know it's who your mamma... oh, never mind. That's not what they say.

Great! One for each party, they can run on opposing tickets. It's not what you know it's who you know. They used to call it a** kissing, now they call it "networking."

I graduated from Lowville (years ago, longer than I would like to admit) :-) After reading this thread I see NOTHING has changed. At Lowville Academy it always has been about who mommy and daddy are. My children do not attend Lowville and it was a large part of mine and my husbands decision when we bought our home (he is a Lowville grad as well) We did not want our kids to attend a school where blatent favoritism is shown by teachers and staff. EVERY kid deserves to be recognized when there has been a job well done. Guess what, our parents were everyday hardworking people and those same values were instilled in us by THEM because the message that if you work hard and stay honest certainly did not come from our school. I actually had a teacher from my kids school call me simply to say how much she enjoyed having my kid in her class and how much she enjoyed teaching them. I would never have recieved that phone call from a Lowville teacher unless I had a certain last name. This was MY experience and I am not trying to shove it down anyones throat. Just remember future grads of Lowville, it may seem like it now but the sun does not rise and set in Lowville's backside. There is a big world out there and you will find your nitch in life, even if your not a judges, doctors, lawyers, legislators, etc. child.
