They're cutting staff and classes, raising fees and tuition, but yeah, let's take on an additional responsibility.

What does UNF need an art gallery for anyway? They still have one on campus don't they?

Yeah, I walk by it almost everyday. Have yet to stop in though.

Sounds like they are trying to move more towards an art college. Even though Jax is more business orientated.

Nah, I think it's just Delaney trying to ram the school into the ground like he did with the City of Jacksonville, or at least set the stage for Peyton to screw up worse.

Is is still in Founders Hall or did they move it? I went in there a few times when I worked at UNF.

Could be lots wrong with this deal ... both in timing and in expense. So there's a practical matter at issue. I think, however that arts_as_occupation has never been more viable than now.

Most major cities have strong arts-industries; we are talking what comes off the kilns, story-boards and vector-graphics servers -- not just another Matisse. UNF <could> be making a very forward-looking addition to their programs.

It's a risk no doubt. And nope, I'm a physicist not an artist.

Then the Founders' Hall is where the gallery is at.

That may be. They already have an excellent Fine Arts program/department there at the university. It was when I left there in 2001 and I suspect it is still excellent.

You might be right there Joe, yet for my money I'd like to see more parking for all these little endeavors that Delaney is doing. It's nice to able to say that your university offers this and that, but if you can't park what's the point?

Parking has gotten a lot better....well, they have a lot of students parking at the edge of campus where the lot is closer to FCCJ than our own classes...and oh, there's the lot down Kernan...yeah, I see what you mean.

Stick to educating and stay out of business.

Just as the city should have stayed out of business ventures.
Delaney has always wanted to be a "businessman" with someone eles's money and no personal risk.

Note all the BEST American Unis are hip-deep in business ventures. From MIT to Stanford ... and Michigan State to LSU.

Knowledge is power and power, money. Imagine 50-new N. Florida "arts" start-ups; aggressive new companies producing everything from Pr0n-vids to cut-glass all based around this gallery acquisition.

Imagine SSlim with 17 new locally produced art-deco statues in his crack-house! That's moving forward !!
