There are 13 comments on the www.lasvegassun.com story from Jul 19, 2010, titled Sharron Angle's take on separation of church and state. In it, www.lasvegassun.com reports that:

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle describes her motivation for seeking elected office as a religious calling.

Politics, including her bid to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is God's purpose for her life - one he has long been preparing her for, she says.

Rightwing fanatics. Say goodbye to your freedoms when our government becomes our State supported Central Church.

Look at every country who allowed Government to become clerical and you'll see anything but a democracy in action.

The Independent American Party’s bylaws declare that Americans established “a government of law, under God, rooted in biblical law, which controlled and regulated government.”

....like many Islamic nations...same wording, different religion.

THE WORDS OF THEODORE ROOSEVELT, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

In Office - September 14, 1901 - March 4, 1909

EVERY IMMIGRANT WHO COMES HERE SHOULD BE REQUIRED WITHIN FIVE YEARS TO LEARN ENGLISH OR LEAVE THE COUNTRY.

NO MAN IS ABOVE THE LAW AND NO MAN IS BELOW IT: NOR DO ASK ANY MAN'S PERMISSION WHEN WE ASK HIM TO OBEY IT. OBEDIENCE OF THE LAW IS DEMANDED: NOT ASKED AS A FAVOR.

THE GOVERNMENT IS US: WE ARE THE GOVERNMENT, YOU AND I.

THE MAN WHO LOVES OTHER COUNTRIES AS MUCH AS HIS OWN, STANDS ON A LEVEL WITH THE MAN WHO LOVES OTHER WOMEN AS MUCH AS HE LOVES HIS OWN WIFE.

WE CAN HAVE NO "50-50" ALLEGIANCE IN THIS COUNTRY. EITHER A MAN IS AN AMERICAN AND NOTHING ELSE, OR HE IS NOT AN AMERICAN AT ALL.

My words.

I don't have anything against other cultures and their beliefs, I have something against those that are over here illegally and breaking the laws of the land.

President Roosevelt would not have tolerated the whole bunch of you, he would have thrown you out along time ago. He was a president for the citizens of the United States.

Please, go back to your beloved country that you say you love so much. Bye, bye. Don't let the door hit you on your way out, you've broken enough laws in my home., California.

Oh, by the way take Obama with you.

Moving away from 'freedom of religion' to 'freedom of worship'-Obama and Hillary have "NEW WORDING"
http://catholic.org/national/national_story.p...

Harry Reid=Mormon He can practice his religion, but others can't

Mitt Romney is constantly barraged about his religion, but NEVER Harry. It's the democrat way, attack others.

As for religion in politics...that was ALL thrown out with the bathwater when Obama became President and was a member of the Black Liberation Church of Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Obama after 2o LLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNGG GGGGGGGGG years in the pew, being married by Jeremiah, having his children baptized by Jeremiah THEN discovered that Jeremiah spouted (shock, shock) ugly, nasty comments about whites and jews.

And the Obamas have YET to find a church to worship in...hmmm!

Religion-we're UNinterested anymore.

""That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.""

Err, so what happened to seperation of state from religion??

I think we should give the atheists what they want and completely remove the affect any religion has on our country.
No more paid religious holidays for congress, any government employee or any company that has government contracts. Also have to carry that down the line to companies that supply goods and services to companies with government contracts. No Christmas, No Thanksgiving, no Easter or good Friday. In fact, we will go one step further to prevent offending these groups that we will make them MANDATORY work days.
You can also include weekends in this. After all, Saturday or Sunday are "days of rest" in most religions. And probably why we have a 5 day wrok week in the first place. Giving these off days could be considered as observing a religion and should not be allowed. We don't want to offend anyone. Right?
How far would this go? Everyone works 7 days a week and virtually no holidays.
