I am the great grandson of James Vandagriff, my father who is 81, is probably the only person alive who was actually in the mounds. All of my life I have heard stories of these mounds from my grandfather, James son, and my father. My father has seen the word looting use as a term to discribe the men of the Pocola Mining Co. He has always said that they were just dirt poor and that they were just trying to feed their families.

I am gggreat grandaughter of Rachel Brown, I have herd many family stories about life on Spiro Mounds. My grand mother has also told me stories that her father told her about life on the Mounds. When Rachel Brown was living. She would not let any one dig on the Mounds. Because of her Choctaw beliefs. Rachel Brown was a Choctaw from M.S. Who lived in died in Sculliville.
