UNR hosts annual free geologic field trip
Nearly 200 people participated in the Earth Sciences Week field trip hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno's Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology last year in the dry lakebed at Winnemucca Lake and the Nightingale Mountains east of Reno.

Anyone who says that there is nothing to do in Reno, has never taken one of these trips. I have attended a number of them over the years and they are GREAT.
Very kid friendly too.
