These forums are generally populated people who love where they're currently at. That's why they spend the extra time on forums dedicated to their city, so the sampling of opinions online isn't a valid way to measure the true pulse of public opinion. The overly vocal internet minority has a habit of trying to spin news like this, talking about how great it is compared to [insert any other city here], never failing to mention the weather and other "conveniences" this place has provided them.

Usually these I-LOVE-VEGAS posters proceed to discuss about how wonderful it is for them, and perhaps the others should just leave because they didn't "try hard enough".

I'd personally like to see more stories about how these Vegas supporters died in a fiery crash on I-15, but we just have to tolerate them until they expire in their little pathetic Sun City communities.

Yes, many people want to leave here. But moving is expensive, changing jobs is difficult, and selling a home here is near impossible. I'd rather see stories about how the other 60% are doing things to make this a better place to live in, because its an absolute mess right now.

And so NOTHING bad ever happens anywhere else in the country or in any city other than Las Vegas? Is that it according to you Mike?

My my, you are so bitter, yet you live in the happy place! For some people, Las Vegas is a paradise, too bad it isn't for you.

Plenty of good people have been raised here, an education hot spot it has never been and never will be.

Let's hope you unhappy Las Vegas bashers get in the fiery crashes on the 15, this way we don't have to hear you whining anymore how you can't "make it here" because the city did it to you.

Get a life, get lost.

That's a moronic argument, pointing at all the other cities. The problem is that we're talking about right HERE, in Vegas. Not in Spokane. Not in Boise.

Your paradise is another person's hell. You're a shining example of the people who come out screaming "omg but I love it here!!!! how dare you!".

And plenty of good people have been also raised in Detroit, Michigan too, but that really means nothing.

Your idea is "making it here" is settling for the mediocre lifestyle this town has. You get lost, and go take a drunken drive down I-15. Morons like you are why Vegas has become a giant trailer-trash cesspool.

Sorry Mike, for your unhappiness. It shows through in your post loud and clear.

The best thing for people like you, moved here and found unhappiness and disenchantment, is to leave. Leave your home, foreclose like everybody else did.

No one told you to move here, and unfortunately, people like you would have trouble punching your way out of paper bag. No wonder your life is miserable. More than likely, you made it that way yourself.

I-15 is that way ---->, and uh....be careful out there, you never know what's going to happen to you and when you're going to be the "hot" news story..LOL;)

OH, poor little Mike. So unhappy, calling other people names.

How classy. Look in the mirror, YOU are the type of people polluting our city.

Anyways, good luck to you in life, you're going to need it.

It's a shame someone has to be so unhappy living here in Las Vegas.
And there are so many like him. So many lost in space folks have come here to live, because they had a fabulous vacation at one time or another here in Las Vegas. For whatever reasons, while most love it and have stayed, there are plenty that hate it.
The only thing these folks want to do is blame a city for their mistakes. They need to look inward, they brought their problems with them. In other words, THEY are the problem.
Gotta wish them the best of luck, God speed! Hope you find happiness Mike!

Actually, I love Vegas. I just can't stand you little crybaby bitches who can't stand it when someone badmouths the town in which you seem to own.

My problem here is that with the town's growth, we attracted a lot of uneducated, third-class trash. Now obviously, sitting around on the internet declaring your love for Vegas makes me wonder what you do for a living and if you fall into that bunch, but whatever.

If you can't accept people having an opinion, get off the internet, fucktards, and get out of my town while you're at it.

I would recommend letting go of your anger Mike...

Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Don't worry about who loves Vegas, so long as you do, that's all you need to know.

Calm down, you sound as if you're having a nervous breakdown.

Interesting how NOT ONE OF YOU addressed Mike's last paragraph. I assume you are all among the 60% who not only "love it here" but plan on staying, yes?

So what are YOU doing to make this a better place? Anything? Anyone? Anyone at all?

Bueller?

Bueller?

FWIW, I moved here 10 years ago and I loved it.'Round about 2002/2003, all these IDIOTS moved in to their "seas of white stucco" on postage-stamp-sized lots (they dress alike, they have the same kids, the same cars, the same homes, can you say STEPFORD??) with their nasty attitudes and their "I'VE GOT MINE SO F*&K YOU" mentalities.

THEY are the ones who need to be leaving so the rest of us can enjoy living here again. And it's so easy to say "ignore them" but when they appear to be the MAJORITY of people one has to deal with on a daily basis .....

What am I doing to make this a better place? I'm trying to make my neighborhood an actual COMMUNITY by getting as many of the neighbors together to just get to know one another. I'm even going to try a Block Party. It's uphill, but I'm stubborn and I believe if I make this effort, others will see it and "pay it forward".

Ever hopeful .....

Las Vegas will never be the city it was just three years ago before the world economy changed. There is now a Chinese "Las Vegas" in McCau China so foreigners will go THERE and save the flight money.

Everything there is newer and cheaper to accomodate the Chinese economy.

The great celebrities that used to make Las Vegas famous are gone..and no new ones are here to replace them. Las Vegas has lost its fame and charm, and pricing is only going down NOW that the economy needs to be shored up.

The city has thousands of hotel rooms and they ought to ALL be for rent for less than fifty bucks a night and that way they'd all be full and people would be there spending money...but the owners of the casinos are too greedy.

I had cash for an FHA loan or twenty per cent down for a conventional loan...but still no house that was advertised for a hundred thousand or less was actually PRICED at that price.

Even the realtors are scammers. I lived there for five years. I got a loan approved for 100 thousand dollars to buy a home and I tried to buy TEN different homes that were priced at a hundred thousand or under...and no realtor would sell me those homes...they said the prices I was seeing were only "teaser" prices and that to actually OWN one of those homes I would have to pay forty thousand more to sixty thousand more...Scammers...So I moved to another state and now I am paying taxes, buying groceries, gasoline, and spending my money in a different state.

How many people have the realtors driven out with this "teaser price scam? How many people tried to buy homes there, and live there and pay bills there and spend their money their...only to be shoved out by greedy realtors who wanted too much money for those homes in a dying economy?

Will the last one out of Las Vegas please turn out the lights?

Comments anyone?

You failed in Las Vegas my friend, pure and simple. Don't worry, this past weekend the MGM, Paris and Palazzo were sold out...and even though you hate to hear this, there will always be plenty of folks visiting, moving to, living in and enjoying Las Vegas!

Don't dwell on your failures here in Las Vegas, it's all behind you now, forget about it. Enjoy Indiana and move forward with your life.

Ummmmm, there's a lot of people moving IN to Las Vegas lately, buying up those homes. What did you think? YOu'd snatch up a 5 bedroom in Summerlin with your $100,000?????

That price will get you pure junk and maybe not even that! Prices are not that low, and there are plenty of buyers. I work in a title company and we're flooded with new escrows!!!

So, you moved to another state and your living and spending money there. Good, that's the American way, you couldn't move here but two more moved here in your place, so, you ain't hurting anyone.

Seems like you are the one who has the hurt feelings. Have a nice life. Don't worry be happy!

I am amazed at how little is learned in this city. I've lived here over 16 years, watched the Clark County School District become the 5th largest school district in the nation yet nobody is addressing the real issues. There is a severe lack of leadership in this State and in local government. This is evidenced by the 49th rank Nevada received for our public education system and we still want to cut the education budget by another 12%. People have very little sense of community pride. There is no effort being placed on diversifying the state economy when the main industries in the state, Tourism and Gaming, have diversified.

Those of you spewing hatred in your comments are precisely the type of people who make having a conversation on civil discourse impossible. Rather than encourage people to leave through hateful words, perhaps make a real effort to understand why someone is so desiring of leaving the city or state. Maybe there is a lesson there to improve the city and its quality of life.

I'm hoping vegas will go back to the way it was when i moved there in 87. cheap rooms , inexpensive place to live , 75 cent beers at slots of fun , and $1.99 steak and eggs at the skyline.
