I know this smacks of "journalism" but did any of the four Sun-Sentinel writers who attached their names to this "report" actually go to the SPLC site and look at the evidence themselves?

and look at the list of alleged "hate groups" for Florida, you'll see that the first 5 groups are not affilliated with any locale whatsoever. They simply float out there in limbo for the purposes of padding the numbers.
California is even worse with 14 of these "phantom groups", or 17% of its total and 12% of Texas' "hate groups" seem to be homeless as well. Of course, this is nothing compared to NM, ME and WY where 100% of their "hate groups" only exist in Mark Potok's mind.

But the SPLC takes in millions each year by promoting the fear campaign that "hate is on the rise" and so they bump the numbers up by 4 or 5 percent each year.

Eleven of Florida's "hate groups" belong to the League of the South, a Neo-Confederate group that you've never heard of because they've never done anything, illegal or otherwise. Seriously, people, do you really think the CSA are going to rise again?

Mark Potok is the PR man for the SPLC. He wrote 90% of this article and sent it, en masse, to thousands of newspapers around the world as a press release. You can read the original text of it here and see just how much hard hitting reporting the four Sun-Sentinel writers put into it.

None of the top ten officers at the SPLC are minorities, unless you count the women. See pages 11 and 40 of the SPLC's most recent tax form and you can readily tell that they have a direct financial incentive in keeping the number of "hate groups", of which Mr. Dees is the sole arbiter, by the way, as high as possible to scare as many donors as possible

I noticed that too, they also try to find any little thing on any group/person publicly against illegal immigration, although they call them anti-immigration to try to make them look bad. Yet they end up making themselves look like idiots. They never talk about anything relevant or factual. That BS about the media being responsible for an increase in hate crimes is an attempt to shut everyone up. If there even is an increase in hate crimes (no I don't approve of any violence or harassment) it could be linked to a number of things. For instance, illegals burning American flags, harassing people, and forming hate groups and claiming this is their land.
