For a lot of student athletes, doing the bare minimum to keep their G.P.A. high enough to play a sport is good enough for them.

Some High Schools hinder student athletes! These kids always need to leave during 5th or 6th period to attend and play for their school!

You would "think" that administrators would have enough sense to put electives at the end of the school day across the board!

But oh no. Core Curricula is scheduled for anyone during their LAST period which means these kids never get important class instruction in core subjects at LEAST two days a week for weeks and sometimes entire semesters!

Yes, they can give up lunch if the teacher is willing to spend 10 minutes or they can go after school to make up the test they missed....oops...then they miss another game or practice.

It's stupid. These kids get punished for trying to put their school on the map...via sports. Division I colleges want high GPAs and the high schools discourage student athletes by putting core subjects right at the time that they will NOT be in class to get the instructions.

Maybe the previous poster should contact the Glendora, California 91741 S.O.S. group for changes.

Old geneie murabitoos is a big roller (pill bug) in this arena, or so he campaigned on SCHOOL issues.
