Anybody know what's up? It's way past 60 days and nothing seems to be happening.

The grand jury made an indictment AFTER 60 days for 2nd degree manslaughter. The judge (Isaac) overruled the 60 day limit. I thought the right to a speedy trial was applicable to every American citizen.

The grand jury never even heard testimony or asked questions of the two eyewitnesses that day. All they did was review the testimony from the detective who investigated at the scene. Sounds like they didn't attempt to get the whole story before making the indictment - epic failure. 2nd degree manslaughter calls for "wanton" taking of a life without premeditation or intent. "Wanton" would imply that Carter wasn't provoked.

I'm very suprised they didn't hear testimony or ask questions - unless there is a lot we don't know. If grand jury felt carter wasn't provoked - then why didn't they hand down an indictment for murder?

Actually the other witness was not Rose. Her story was all over the place and lost all credibility after what she first told the media was proven to be crazy wrong. Then her family said she was so traumatized that she couldn't remember anything about it. The other witness tells the same story as the detective and the roomate. Chris was drunk, threatening and attacked Carter first.

Did carter hire attorney or does he have public defender?

The guy came to Kentucky because there was a job for him here. He had to leave his kids behind and work to send them money. Who knew the hell that awaited him?

That's a shame. Did they ever reveal what sparked the initial argument? Have they looked into Rose - it still seems like she was covering something up with her knee jerk reaction to lie.(She couldn't even keep up with her own lies)

What sparked the whole thing was small and insignificant in the big picture. What set the tragedy in motion was alcohol and how it skews one's ability to put things in perspective. From what I am told, Chris was a mean old bully on a good day. His drunken rage was his tragic downfall. The details will come out at trial - providing the media can actually relay that information truthfully to the public.

Sounds like chris was walking away & carter was going after him!

Chris charged Daniel with the frog gig, Daniel sidestepped, Daniel swung, Chris ducked and the flat part of the hatched hit him just behind the ear - not in the front as Rose first told reporters.

Well its a damn shame - if carter is going through all this for defending himself. Scarey to know u can be hit with manslaughter charges for defending yourself. Hope they move it along quickly so this man doesn't have to waste to much time in jail & away from his family.
