Iowa scientists: Drought a sign of climate change

Nov 19, 2012 Full story: WHIO 13

This year's drought is consistent with predictions that global climate change would bring about weather extremes including more frequent droughts, said a report released Monday.

The report was signed by 138 scientists and researchers from 27 Iowa colleges and universities.

Yeah, all they had to do was look out University & college windows, as Iowa corn crops turned brownly brown as they ever have been to make that determination. Of course, almost any corn crop from the east coast to Washington state was brownly brown.

Patrick Michaels stayed stuck in his office in Washington D.C.

And tomorrow when it rains they will change their research to the flooding and require everyone to buy a boat.

Climate mode changed to #3 in April 2012.

Now as a trsult of the mode change have travelling monsoonal flows, squall lines feeding into the temperate rainbelt, and a weak el Nino on the way.

The end result is that the drought is going to be rather seriously curtailed this winter and things will get rather lively.

Watch out for ice storms (iowa, and California storm washouts.

Gee maybe I should hold back. I would rather have my corn chowder than to upset Seinfeld Soup nazi.

It finally stopped raining in the UK on December 30 2012.
Currently in a dry spot, got a pale disc through the cloud cover a couple of times this week but not clear enough to show sunspots. Winter chill in UK generally absent so far this winter, current ambient about 11 degrees C. Our dry spell & present due to the gulf stream finally kicking in & dragging the rainbelt north as a result of the start of thermohaline circulation due to winter chill on the exposed arctic ocean water. For the record the Gulf stream in N. Atlantic is no longer constant, and slows to a crawl in summer & early autumn, with the result thar early winter gulf stream influence in W. Europe is absent and only becomes important now in late winter/springtime.

Saw that it snowed in Texas (not a usual event).

Also found that floods typical of climate mode#2 in OZ were not present this year; A bit hot down there. Mode#3 also shifting cold siberian high pressure East of usual location, very cold as a result in China, Korea, & Japan.

Brazilian summer monsoon still kicking so not too bad (rio got a major flood). Still no sign of major monsoonal flow on the W. Andean side.

Stay tuned the global warming cooling climate changers forecasters predict record floods in the next two days. Snow nothing new in Texas this happens every two years or more depending on what part of Texas you live in. It's all about the money. Have a nice day yourself.
