Telling the story of Latinos in the Heartland

When I moved from California to Iowa in 2006, my colleagues and friends asked: Are there Latinos in Iowa? This facetious question illustrated two common misperceptions: Latinos are recent arrivals and scarce in the Midwest.

More Latinos in Iowa means more welfare, more free education for their kids, more free health care, more working for cash and any other benefits in which they can scam the citizens. The reproduce like rabbits!
