Black Colleges Face Whiteout

There are 1970 comments on the www.blackagendareport.com story from Dec 12, 2008, titled Black Colleges Face Whiteout. In it, www.blackagendareport.com reports that:

White Georgia politicians want to force two historically Black universities to merge with white schools, to reduce "duplicative" costs and end a "legacy of segregation. "When a Georgia Republican goes on a crusade against the vestiges of Jim Crow, it's time to watch out!"

I'm against it. A move like this will only destroy the unique legacy of it being a historically black college university. I don't mind whites attending them, but I'd rather prefer that they continue to maintain it's black legacy long into the future.

I'd have to agree with you that it should keep it's history strong but still let people of other races go.

Good point Mack!
I don't see anything wrong with white people attending but let these HBCU's keep their legacy. That makes HBCU's so unique...their history and legacy.

I mean, this is America, your supposed to be able to go to any school you want to go to. I think they should let them in but also keep the black history alive and teach it to other races as well.

I know for a fact if a predominately white college didn't want a certain number of blacks in it all hell would break loose and there would be protest and everything from blacks.

Um HBCUs do allow people of other races. I attend Spelman and there are many girls of other races enrolled. Furthermore, this past year Morehouse had a White valedictorian.
Surely you are not suggesting thar integrated HBCUs are a novel idea?

You all don't know anything. they DO allow whites to attend HBCU's most just don't want to go. I went to Hampton University, there were many whites going there on scholarship and no-one had a problem with it. what we have a problem with is trying to erase the HBCU label. Its our history and chronicles our struggles for equality.

I agree with you totally, they shouldn't erase the label. I go to Norfolk State University and im not gonna lie but I was surprised to see some white kids on campus, not that I have a problem with it.

I think HBCU's should keep things the way they are. They should keep allowing anyone who wants to attend do so, but keep the legacy going. No one is asking Yale and Harvard to give up their legacy. As long as the school is open to everyone, then they should be able to keep their lable.

The reason they want the merge is because they want to keep tabs on the black community and control what they are being taught. This is nothing more than another way to keep black people from rising in this country. There is a deep fear of the black nation becoming a great nation. There is a agenda to keep them under thumb at all costs. They see that black people are rising and their children are becoming extremely intelligent in which they have always been and this they deem must be stopped. Once you understand your real and true history and the way the caucasians think and the lengths they have gone through to keep the black nation under thumb then you will understand where all this is coming from and will be strongly opposed to it.

Before you get pissy with me sweetie, I never said they didn't let them go there, I was implying that they should keep letting them without changing the tradition!

Are you just trying to find something wrong with my post or what?!

You really feel this way?? I am feeling like you are a little racist... I bet if a group of White individuals decided to open a college, you know for historical reasons, and make it known as an all white college...It wouldn't be a week before some black person was ready to sue for discrimination.....
